Adjust the regulator!

How confident are you in your volt meter?
Where are you measuring you voltage?

Please describe the voltage jumping in a bit more detail.

Example...
It is at 14v steady for minutes then it jumps up to 16v for minutes then back to 14v and so on.

The voltage is fluctuating between 14 and 16v, no noticable pattern.

Points? Electronic ignition? Points style regulator? Solid state regulator?
Fluctuation at idle, while driving?
Age of battery?
