On the way into a federal park for a Sunday cruise in I go to, I came across a Grand National Buick broke down on the side of the road
The only other guy besides me who stopped was a guy driving a 68 GTX
Guess Mopar owners help others with break downs as everyone else just cruised on by

Other than a battery jumper box, nobody had any tools except me
The driver smelled burning and the car stalled
It was determined the electric fuel pump wire came loose. However there was a short that killed the battery.
The battery was sparking bad putting the ground on with everything off in the car
The owner knew very little mechanically. The battery had the GM side terminals
I explained to him to not leave the battery hooked up and I lent him a water pump pliers to get the nut loose if he had a problem going home
Personally I would have flatbed'd it but I told him disconnect that battery asap.
He wouldn't take the pliers but I told him just return them next time you see me
Later on I found a small dot of bird **** on my shoulder....Must have been a partial hit by a gull
So now I have some good luck

I hope nobody spins that into, "Mopar guys help each other out because the Mopars are always breaking down, so they help each other so he gets help when his breaks down".... (pay it forward thing...)

But seriously...

I have been to many shows and meets and if someone has broken down I've seen and also been part of others helping the guy to get going....

Mopar guys are real that way....

Back in '88 we were with the Winged Warriors car club (Superbirds and Daytonas) to do a parade lap around Talledega before the race...

We were towards the back of the pack between turns 3 and 4 when they staged us... We get into our car to start it and get it running for the lap, when I look in the rearview mirror and see a huge ball of flame shoot out from under the engine compartment of the Superbird behind us... (We talked a little as we were staging...)

He had a six pack car where they converted it to manual outboard secondaries and an electric fuel pump... It developed a leak either in one of the fuel lines or one of the carb float bowls and leaked gas on the engine and ignited when he tried to start the car....

Someone else had seen it also and got a fire extinguisher and got the fire out fairly quickly... But the car would not start now and had to be pushed off the track into the parking area for the club...

A few of the members actually missed part of the race to help him get the burnt wiring fixed and got it to run before the end of the race, and then watched the race finish...

Mopar guys help each other out that way...
