So last November I was getting frustrated, tyring to fit my Hemi into the Dart while using an oilpan with a swinging pick-up. Lucky for me a friend brought me along to SEMA. I spoke to the guys there, voicing my frustration & all & they told me they were coming out with a new oilpan (part#31581) that would allow the use of a non-modified centerlink & would eliminate the usual problems accompanied with all this. Has anyone seen or used one? I figured I'd give it some time before I post as Milodon didn't even have one to display there.........

31581 is the road race pan. They had the external oil pickup version of that pan on their display rack. It has the same basic outside dimensions. Just plumbed for external oiling.

Our Justice Brothers booth was just down the row from them.

Why are you needing to modify the centerlink? Troy just built a 68 style deep hemi pan and doesn't have any interference problems. He just took a 68 big block pan and made it deeper.

Ok, you want a big oil pan down that has to have a swinging pick up? Is it a capacity that you are looking for and/or depth to get oil away from the crank.

This is picture of that part number pan with the external oiling taken at the SEMA show last Nov: http://www.moparmax.com/events/2011/vi_11-sema-products-1.html

This is a picture of the underside of Troy's Hemi Dart that TTI used to make the new Hemi A-body headers.

This Milodon pan is based on the 1970 and up BB oil pan. edit Troy did try a 1970 and up oil pan on his Dart and it did work. There is clearance for the idler arm

Well, I got my Hemi from Ray Barton & it came with a "Chaarlie's" oilpan like the S/S cars from the 60s-70s which means a hole in the pan for a rear-sump, swinging pick-up & more depth. It all makes sense to me. However it requires the centerlink to be straightened out a bit, which I don't feel real comfortable about, so I was looking for a solution. These front sump or mid-sump pans just don't make a lot of sense to me when a car accelerating is causing everything to "slosh" to the rear. Yes, I know about baffles but why not let gravity work for you to insure proper feeding to the oil pick-up?
As to "Why?"--- I DID want more capacity & move the oil away from the crank. It's all free HP!

check out the 73 and up centerlink, idler arm and pitman arm. they are straighter by 1". that maybe what you need to fit the oil pan on the motor. go to bigblockdart and see the tech section on front suspension.

Thanks! I'm not opposed to changing pans, it's just that I have this thing, so why not use it?
