Gotta question about oil pumps & external pickup.
For my 470, just looking for a good set up for a possible 7k spinning engine.
Pictures are welcomed, if I see it I can understand it. Thanks

That's gonna need some oiling system mods. I know this sounds stupid, but there was a picture floating around on the net for years of someone's drawing......I think it was on a napkin. LOL It included everything that needed to be done on a big block. Here it is in this post. I don't know how to get rid of the dumbass Photobucket watermarks. Maybe somebody has a copy without all that mess.

If you have most or "all that" done, I would suggest trying to find the old Mopar Performance high volume/high pressure pump. They were pretty nice. Hard to find now, but you can basically make one with an HV pump and installing the Mopar high pressure spring. As for pickups, Milodon makes some gooduns. I assume your pickup tube has been enlarged to 1/2" in the block.

Im not sure how it all works but he wants me to get an external pick up so probably not using internal

I once ported a BB oil pump for a buddy with a big stroker. He loved it. He said the oil pressure gauge reacted like a tach. There is a right angle turn in the passage in the oil pump body. I did my best to smooth out that turn.

Hmm, that's interesting. Thanks for that info

Did that on my old hemi car ------

IF U RUN ANN EXTERNAL PICK UP , DONT FORGET TO PLUG THE ORIG. PICK UP HOLE IN THE BLOCK!
I remember a rich kid that got his daddy to buy a Sox-Martin rotating assem. , the guy that put it together for him forgot it -----------
I was always jealous of his hi dollar stuff , that I couldn`t afford .

Okay, got it figured out. Milodon system bolts onto the melling h/v pump , with a swinging pick up, yes blocking the internal pickup
