It looks like a ready to run distributor but we have no idea what it fits.

Looks like it takes an HEI cap, but no distributor gear?

Can you tell how many lobes on the reluctor? 4/6/8 cylinder may be a clue.

Thanks, it is.
It has a standard red colored GM style HEI cap with built in coil.
8cyl

I just can't find crap about the shaft shape and drive type.
No gear and a slot on the end.

Any clue as to who made it? (manufacurer?) No label, part no? Heck for all I know it could be some sort of custom drive off a cam, IE front mount injection pump style.

Looks like the chinese stuff you find at the car show vendors, but that drive has me stumped.

Thanks Del.
No, no numbers or markings of any kind.

My Jeep distributor has a slot on the end like that for the oil pump drive, but that's the only similarity....

Could it be for an old flat head? Back when I worked on forklifts the early ones with flat heads were similar to that. Maybe a flat head Ford?

Probably for an engine before ~1982. After that, most wouldn't have vacuum advance since a spark controller module did that. Most likely an after-market upgrade. The ones that come off the camshaft that I have seen are much shorter.

Looks like an Oldsmobile distributor with the gear pulled off.
