'69 Barracuda convertible. Original drivers door hinges allow door to open too far and leading door edge contacts lower hinge. Should I rebuild hinges with new bushings, pin and spring, or buy new replacement? Can rebuild be done with door on car? Thanks for the advice.

You should contact our member here, @MoparLeo. He's a super cool guy and he rebuilds Mopar hinges. Does a great job. You'd be supporting a good member.

We remanufacture Mopar front door hinges. Replacements are low quality made in Taiwan. We Service only Virgin, Mopar hinges.
No cheap pin/bushing jobs which ruin your hinges. Never a factory item.
30 years experience remanufacturing Mopar only door hinges from 1962 to 1976 A,B & E-body.

Yep tools and ability..... We do a complete rebuild on every set.
No pin/bushing spring job. RestoRick sells you a double oversized pin whether you need one that big or not.
Like boring the block .090 when it only needs .030. Only because he doesn't know how worn your hinges are.
They are Good quality parts. Just sells the pin and spring with drill bit.
Nobody sells the door check pins and springs.
90% of the time the door check roller pin is frozen and is cutting the main spring. And A & B-body lower are usually stress cracked.
When the roller is turning it cuts a round groove into the hinge, normally off center. We machine down the side of the hinge to eliminate the worn groove so the roller has a smooth, flat surface to ride on.
Here is a photo of a hinge with both problems, stress cracked and door check frozen.

Give them time. I am already having people trying to get me to fix them.
AMD has good sheet metal but the Taiwan hinges are not built with the same strength steel as the originals.
I have been restoring Mopar hinges for 30 years now. Have done thousands of sets.
