Holley 1945 Rebuild Problems

So I'm in the middle of rebuilding a Holley 1945. When taking it apart, I did not want to remove the power valve because it seemed to work just fine (and honestly I didn't know how to)

While disassembling it, the retaining ring came loose and the spring pushed the whole assembly out of the housing. Now that I am trying to reassemble it, I can't get it to stay.

I originally thought it worked like a snap ring sitting inside of a groove, but it appears that it may have been punched into place.

Any information or suggestions on how to put this back together?

Open the garbage can, throw the Holley in and replace it with a Carted BBS.

Same answer. The Holleys SUCK, especially when they start giving problems.

Nevermind, I used a center punch to drift the edges over

That'll work. If it doesn't run worth a chit, at least it'll look good.
