Has anyone experimented with both of these intakes and have preference to one over the other. Have a strip dominator already and not sure if the M1 would give me any more low end or if they are so close it would be a waste of time. Engine is a 11:1 aluminum headed 340 w a .555 solid cam, 3:91s and a 3500 stall.

The Holley Strip Dom. was sold through the old Direct Connection IIRC years back. When Chrysler developed there own high performance/race branch, Hustle Stuff- Direct Connection- MoPar Performance, they also made sure that they could sell there own items, which of course, should be better than what they have been selling.

According to the MP book, the M-1 single is 10HP better than the old intake. Which would be the Holley. If you look at the two intakes, there extremely similar. Having had both in my hands, either intake will do just fine.

I no longer have the Holley so I can not compare or take pic's of the two for comparison reasons. The intake went out in a trade. I kept the M-1 over the Holley.

I don't have experience with the dominater but I have ran a m 1 single plane for a long time and never felt it was lacking in any area .I have ran a number of different cams and gears on a X headed 345 and found it to be a great piece . my car is a 4 speed car and that helps. I have ran ld 340 and a number of duel and single planes but my M1 got the job

Hey:

I currently have both of these intakes. The Strip Dominator is very marginally taller with a marginally larger plenum. Also the runners on the Holley are slightly larger.

I'll bet there isn't much difference between the two horsepower wise, but you never know...

Strip dominator has the blue around the ports.

I had a friend who lived in Iowa and built pretty hot 340s for circle track cars. Amongst his buddies and himself they had an M1, a Strip Dominator and Victor. He told me they got to discussing the merits of each and decided to put them on the dyno to factually find the better unit. He could not recall which one ended up generating the most HP and torque but he did say they were all with just a couple of HP and torque. (he said he thought MAYBE the Victor produced a couple more horse and the M1 a couple more torque but wasn't sure) One might peak at a slightly different RPM but he said even that was so close they were virtually identical manifolds. So they all took their manifolds home and lived happily ever after!!!

He even told me this when he had a Victor to sell and I was interested in buying. He said to just keep my Strip Dominator as I would not notice a difference.

I'm pretty sure that the Victor has a noticably deeper plenum, which would help in the higher RPM range. But I agree with the others that the Holley Strip Dominator and M-1 Single Plane are too close to worry about. (There have been similar discussions and comments about the LD340 vs the RPM Air-Gap.)

You can probably do some tuning for torque and/or HP by experimenting with open, 4-hole and 4-hole tapered spacers - which may also require some tweaking of the jets and pump squirter circuits for each spacer.

Any one compare with a super victor in horse power.??

Thanks ,for the pics,LX. Plenum taller, obviously.Looking,at the main plenum divider in back, tells me they slightly lengthened dividers, make up for the deeper plenum torquewise. Depends, what do you want to spend?
