Interesting story on the $4 'Hoover spacer' that realized 180+ HP out of a 'stock' slant. They mention our own Doug Dutra clicking off a sub 12 run. Make a 2" spacer and let us know your results!

I have a copy of Doug’s slant six book and don’t recall a mention of this spacer. It seems to me Doug surely would have addressed this. Curious if anyone of that era has one of these or at least has a picture of one. My curiosity has been piqued!

If the video isn't a complete fabrication, that spacer must have been hiding a nitrous spray bar.

The way the video is just pasted together out of random clips makes me think it's the first option.

Uh-huh. And just wait'll you see the numbers you can generate if you combine the special 2" spacer with those "fire injectors" ("Run YOUR Car Without Spark Plugs!") JC Witless used to sell until Big Oil and the auto industries forced them off the market for obvious reasons. Don't try it til you add a whole lotta gussetting and torque boxes, or you'll twist your car in two as soon as you kick the accelerator to bring your Carter BBS down from the fast idle!

The first minute was full of crap, I can't watch the rest. Oh meow god.
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU. Much miss-information. Photos matched nothing. Only one correct photo of Tom Hoover.
And the year 1969 ? Tom Hoover developed the Hyper-Pac in the early 60's.
Also not a photo of this magic 2'' spacer. Even the gasket they show looks hokie to me.

So this entire vid is BS? They wove a good story but I did catch the slant angle being wrong and a few more slant bits like quoting a weak bottom end.

I found a hoover spacer!
Will's Barracuda is at .20 and my old Barracuda that Will owns now is at 25:20.
Yes, 30 minutes of my life wasted...........

It would be fun if it were true. I mean, who doesn't have 4 bucks? Obvious clue was the way he pronounced "hemiss" instead of "hemee". First time I ever heard that one

This is a great example of A.I. bullshit. The more it's pushed, the more ignorant people will get. It has no 'intelligence', it's a huge database of mass information that it pieces together it's responses from, sometimes it's right and sometimes it's wrong, but people eat the **** up regardless because some of the time they don't know any better and take the AI response as accurate, then pass it along as gospel.

God, AI-narrated videos have ruined Youtube.

426 Hem-Is. **** right off with that video.
100% Already sick of this bogus ****.

100% It's bad enough the amount of normal 'net' BS has polluted reality, now it becomes part of a fake 'peer reviewed digital consensus',

BINGO, it's not even close to AI, it's a large language model. It's nothing more than a large scale Google search that spits out an autocomplete that people take as fact without putting any thought of their own into.

Our dumbass assistant city administrator had to write a recap on our city fair. This woman was up for the position of City Administrator, which would have been a very well paying job for anyone with only a high school education. She started off with "The word 'fair' is defined by Websters dictionary as...."... AND THEN went right along reading out aloud about the history of fairs in general. No clue that she sounded like a high school student that wrote her report on the bus that morning. The idjit didn't even proofread it or anything. And she got passed over for the promotion. There is a God.

Anytime someone beats their mouthmeat about AI, just ask em: if it's so smart, how come it doesn't work without Internet? Then jab a fishhook through their lip when they start gasping for the sweet air of critical thinking.
