How can I drop my 60ft.

-
hi, MSD sells a two step RPM limiter, it will control RPM on starting line and over rev protection at top end.very simple setup. my motor doesn't put out 550 horses!! It's a stock stroke 340. gears are deep and 9" slick. calvert bar system on car. suspension is E.T. MPH is motor.

I have MSD6AL with 7000 chip in it.I didn,t know they made a 2 stage.I,m gonna look into that though.Thanks.What kind of MPH are you getting through the traps??

In my ooooold Direct Connection book, The chart "Minimum ET for a given MPH" states that a stick shift running 108 could run very low 12's. This is for an all-out drag suspension. Even w/ your street set up, you'll get closer. I would never do this ;-) but you can practice on some out of the way place b4 going to the track. The hook won't be the same, oh well. It'll save you time & money. Oh, when you start getting better hook, be ready to shift to 2nd. It comes quick!
Do you power shift? I know it's your street car, but that will pick up your et. Plus, it's a lot of fun! After replacing the clutch in my Challenger, I hit 2nd nice and clean, the lighter flew out of the open ash tray!

Perfacar's 2 step helps control the car, it won't by itself help 60 ft. Bet that's a fun ride, Perfacar!

I,m gonna take her to the track again this weekend, test and tune.I,m gonna try a bunch of options. The power shifting from 1st to 2nd is going to be first, back off p.snubber,a couple adj. on the new carb, and bump timing from 34 to 36. Basicly go have fun. Thanks everybody for the great info. I,ll post vid. sunday night.Hope nothing breaks!!

hi, the difference between launching at high RPM on primaries and mash the pedal versus on the mat against a two step was worth .05 in 60' time. by doing this, it got rid of the bog through low gear. much more consistent 60' .
btw , the MSD two step plugs in where your chip is now. you have to hook up a power source and a toggle switch to go from high side to low side.

The pinion snubber and slide-a-link are fighting each other.

The slide-a-link uses the axle wind up to transfer forces and plant the tires through the springs. You'll need good shocks to control the rear axle.

Pinion snubber is designed to limit wind up and apply those forces through the axle housing.

If you have the slide a link, take the snubber off. Don't bother with resetting the snubber, remove it.

Check your pinion angle. You'll want a 3-5* down with the slide a link. A snubber is more in the area of 5-10* down.

Never thought about this, thanks perfacar.

You can build a two step that is adjustable using potentiometers from any electrical house. The MSD pills are nothing more than resistors.

Hey crackedback,I have 90/10 shocks.I,m also going to adj. to see if it will make any diff.. What I need is a good photog. to see if car is rising in front and sinkin in the rear.click,click,click.

go there and look up the s/s spring section.

This MAY help you .

Suspension setup varies from car to car .

Ive tried my SS springs with all the added clamps mentioned above, no clamps , adjustable shocks , MP shocks , and now big-*** Ram Truck shocks ,

MY car runs the same -- your results may vary.

I,m running stroked 340(372)dynoed 452hp440ftlbs@5700rpm 4speed,centerforce dual friction clutch,8 3/4 with4.10 with 26.5x10M/T slicks,slide-a-link and adj.pinnion snubber.Todays best run was RT.201 60ft1.81 12.88@108.2. I launched at 2500rpm so not to harm all the new goodies I just installed.Am i being to gentle?? Oh ya 90/10 race shocks front and back.Any suggestions would be helpful Thanks.:read2:

Do you have power steering? If so by removing the belt you can save as much as 2 tenths. P.S takes 6 to 8 hp to run.

you should have your rear shocks set at 50/50..i dont think the slide a link work well with a pinon snubber ...my try lunch at more or les rpm.. your going to have to play with it to see what it likes....good luck

Bfg s will out 60 ft mt s any day of the week . You can lighten up your car without butchering it. I started at the front and took of all the extra bumper brackets. Next was the sway bar . It will not let the front end lift like it is supposed to . It is fighting your rear suspension. Battery in the trunk is a must with a good shutoff switch. There is tons of thing to do that you only have to spend time and not money on. Jack it up get a creeper and spend some time under her and you can make it happen. I am afraid that hot roddind today is turning into What you can buy from a catalog and bolt on. My 2 cents

Oh I,ve spent some time under her.Since May 1st new motor, clutch and bell.scattersheild,8 3/4 rear,Bears performance axels and 4.10 gears and slide-a-link.Now this weekend 4 speed shifter went for a crap. What next??Took pinion snubber off last week.
