How do I remove the headrest from my 69 Dart bench seats?

Not sure of your application, but a lot of them have a push button release on the top of the seat, where the post comes up.

On my 69 Barracuda, you just give them a good pull straight up.
About a 1/2 inch from the end of the rods there is a large notch, that is more then likely giving you troubles. Just be careful and use good force upward.
