I have a truck lock for my Demon and I have a key that it will not work. Has anyone here been able to change the lock to fit the key that I have.

Thanks in advance...................Ted

Take them both to a locksmith and have him re-pin the core to fit your key. Alternatively, he could cut a new key for you that fits the lock. Either way.

This. The guy that lived across from me worked doing locks and auto entrance doors. He had a desk in his van with tools and key machine.
We lost the keys to my tool chest. He picked the lock quickly. Then removed it. Re keyed and made new keys l. He also rekey some locks from numbers no locks or keys. Locks keep honest people out. Scary fast when someone knows how to pick a lock

You can repin some automotive locks yourself IF you have the correct pins.
Others require major disassembly to get to the pins that can make reassembly problematic.

A locksmith is your best option. They have the specialized tools and access to the pins and springs necessary

Search FABO and FBBO.

It's been explained fairly well.

Fairly easy.

The only issue is you have a limited number of pin combinations if you only have one lock to work with.

That said, I can usually get three and sometimes four of the five.

Tip-

Do not separate the upper pins and lower pins as they come out.
They work in pairs and always in the same pairs.

I use an egg carton.

As mentioned, easy to do or have done. I do that sort of work myself, but, sometimes it's cheaper to just get a new set if you have to travel very far, or, mail the lock off somewhere. If you have no luck locally and really want to keep the factory lock, PM me for details and price.

BTW. If you do not have a locking console or glovebox the key for the trunk is a key all its own. so have a key made for your replacement lock and save the hassle of trying to re-pin it
