No comparison! I was riding wheelies in the 70s on bikes and could still probably jump on a dirt bike and get a couple gears with the front end up, nothing real impressive about the power level it takes to do that, commonplace.
 
If all you want is picture, tie down a bunch of ballast in back of trunk. It will slow down your ET but make a pretty picture
 
Be ready for parts breakage, It doesn't matter what transmission, gears, converter or axles you have anything will break! It doesn't matter if it's old or new it will come apart. One night I watched a friend tear up a new slick when his wheel studs broke on the drivers side, tire and tube were junk.
Be careful what you wish for....
 
Simple, 6x6 in middle of car, raise the car stick it where the center balance is, push down on back bumper. Now you see what it takes for the front end to come up. Now imagine the back tires trying to go under the front tires as the mass of the car tends to stay in one spot, weight rotating backward. Center of gravity thing. I’ve seen cars with average HP wheely great and cars with twice the HP push the car out and not lift a tire. A lot more detail but..
 
One more thing, a friends H/Stock auto 73 340 Duster, runs low 11s 1/4 & 7.0s 1/8th pulls the wheels about a foot every time . If you know stock class that’s an all steel stock body and low compression 340 with cast iron intake and 9” tires. No trans brake or two steps. Those cars are set up to rotate with loose a-arms and front suspension and good shocks all around.

  2. A727 with low first gear, 3200 RPM verter, 325/45 22" tires
  3. 8 3/4 with 4.10:1 SG, SS Springs moved into frame rails, Caltrac's.
  4. Front to rear frame connectors and Torque boxes. Battery moved to rear.
  5. Qa1 Drag shocks. \6 torsion bars
  6. Fiberglass front bumper, FG fenders, FG Hemi Hood
All that in a 1968 Dart 270 will pull the front tires up 6 to 10 inches on the street.

SO, if the OP has a 340 and 4 speed, copies most of that above except run 4.56:1 SG and running at a prep'ed track like Woodburn or PIR should carry the front well.

Rephrase that to read traction first then work on the torque until you have the results, if you build torque first, you will not have traction sufficient to accomplish the task.
Torque + Traction = wheelie.


How you get there is the tricky part.

Lots of ways to skin a cat.

3,800 verter from ultimate
2 step & line lock (can be tied together for leaving on the button.)
360 at 10.5-1


Tilt/lift off front end.
Pizza cutters.


It never lifts on the street. I built this car for the sole purpouse of making people said at stop lights and it dose that better than most. But it never lifts the front. (They spin)

Old thread but do what bill “Maverick “ Golden did while racing a Max Wedge in super stock. He accidentally started the wheelstander phenomenon when he made a set of reverse ladder bars that went from the shock plates to the spring shackle eye at the rear. Basically a piece of steel plate on each side of the spring. Pulled the rear of the car down while shoving the axle forward.

Thought of doing this before using a stiff rear section on split monos
