I just built a 416 stroker. It is going in a 71 scamp. I was hoping someone could guesstimate my horsepower and what et it would run. Heres the recipe. 340 .30 over 12 to 1 compression,h beam rods, victor 340 intake, eddy heads,267/274 @ .50 570 solid lift comp cam,tti step headers,727,4500 stall,4.30 gears,26x9.50 hoosiers. Also will be going to 950 holley carb. Anybody running a comb like this? I'm to to this site, great site. Thanks in advance. :burnout:

Well, With what you have listed I would guess 500 HP @ 7000 rpms and 450 lbs.ft. of torque @ 4500-5000 rpms. As for the ET we would have to know more about the car that it's going to be in, what kind of suspension, is the frame tied together, roll bar? It's hard to say without more info.

BJR Racing

Thanks for the reply BJRRacing. I have installed frame connecters so far. also going to install roll bar. what else should I do to the suspension? Took out heater core, put in a set of race seats , 4 3/4 fiber glass cowl hood,Fiber glass front bumper. Other than that it has stock suspension. again thanks for the reply.

Sounds alot like what I am doing. Except I am going with 8:1 compression and a F-1 Procharger.

Good Luck and have fun!

Them smallblock strokers run good. I would say in an A-body that weighs in at 3300 or lighter that combo when dailed in could run low 11's. And if in the right chassis with light weight 10's are not out of the questions. I say this because I have seen smallblock strokers built about like my sons 400 run about the same or better. His car is a .030 over 400 that comes out to 406 which is less cubes then the smallblock stroker. But the smallblock strokers built about the same as his seem to run close to what his combo runs. And his car is not as light as it could be. Ron

I'm going to guess you will run out of gear at the top end if you don't get taller tires with those gears.

I agree with half..I think 7100 will be too high for that package, and that peak hp will be lower, closer to 6300 IMO with the cam you have. the 4" stroke will eat that duration right up. IMO, I'd go with less gear, let it pull.

Thanks for the reply guys. I have a set of 3.91s or do you think go with 4.10s. I am hoping to be around 500hp.11.4-11.5 is where I would at least like to run. Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I would run at least a 28" tire, that should put you close with your gears, those 26s are too small, i think low 11s shouldn't be a problem.

28 x 10-11 and 430s will work real good with your combo. :drinkers:

Right now we have 4.30's in the boys Dart with a 28 x 9 tire. He shifts at 6200 and crosses the stripe at 6400. With the 3.91's and a 26" tire it was about the same and ran about the same et. Ron

383man what name brand 28x9 are you running, and where did you get them? I seen 28x11 in jegs, but that wont fit in my fender wells. The 9.50 hoosiers work good. Do you have your springs moved in or are they in the stock place? Thanks Brett

Brett its all stock. SS springs but not moved as its all stock location. They are M/T 28 x 9 slicks that we bolt on at the track. Its a tight fit as we use 15 x 7 steel wheels and they just do fit. Ron

Here is a pic with the slicks on the car. Ron

Here is my combo which is a little like yours. 1st Strokers don't need a lot of RPM.
340 block
30 over bore J&E flat top pistons
eagle stock lenght H beam rods
W-2 ported head
ported strip dominator manifold
304/304 557 lift mopar cam
Pistons are 18 thousands out of the whole to get 13 to 1 compression
950 Holley
03.79 stroker crank which puts mine at 392 cubic inch
Turbo action tight 4200 convertor
727 torquflite w/trans brake
4:88 gears
ladder bars, frame tied, roll cage in car
11.5x29.5 slicks
car weight 3500 lbs with driver
Best et to day is 10:72 at 125.43 mph
I leave the line at 4200 shift at 5800 and go through the traps around 6500

You should be able to get in high 10's with right suspenion work.

Where'd the Camaro hood come from? ;)
