How many lock grooves on 225 valve stem

-
My '65 and '62 FSM's show an illustration with 4 grooves on the exhaust and 2 on the intake. So you can't mix the keepers....

Two and four on every one I've torn down, and was std. practice on most of Ma Mopars
engines. The 4-groove exh. keepers are beaded, and are not designed to "grip" the stem,
they actually allow the valve to rotate some while open.On hi-po jobs w/fast lift rates &
higher spring loads, I grind them so they do not butt against each other and grip the stem
tightly,-0- fails and -0- problems w/valve/seat issues. Anyone w/a parts book should've
been able to look that up(NAPA etc.) any special reason for the query?

I don't know, how many licks in a tootsie roll pop?

I've been try in to locate some oversized valves, engine builder company everyone talks about I sold out of intake valves and not making more as the guy is retiring and possibly going out of buisness, anyone know who else produces oversize valves let me know

First, you're not stuck w/using a valve that has the same grooves as OE,so that is the
least of your worries.BTW,the mopar catalog lists the keepers for four groove valves as three
groove keepers, lol.True, the keeper or lock has three grooves that mate to the the ridges in
between the four grooves on the valve stem, but it can be confusing to the unfamiliar!
Buy 6(or a set of eight)stainless 1.74 BB exh. valves and have them installed by someone
familiar w/performance work, they will work fine and the new seat puts them close to rite on.
Worked fine for Me for 8yrs. of year 'round driving, but have someone who knows perf. do the
job.Done wrong big valves can actually run worse,so make sure they will not just do a generic
30/45/60 3-angle seat drop'em in and go,if so move on.Keepers to match will not be a prob.
