how much fluid in new T/C

I am putting a new converter in a rebuilt 727 and was wondering how many quarts were needed for the converter on initial install. I guess I am priming the converter. I have asked three people and get different answers. Thanks

i would fill it up so that when u tip it on its side it starts to run out. thats enough to get it primed

also make sure u get it in there three "clicks"

I just filled a new system everything was dry it took a little over 10 quarts.

Put about a quart into the convertor.
Chrysler calls for 8 1/2 quarts total system [I think], but really put'em in till it's full.

Can you clue me in on the three clicks? I can feel the neck of the t/c slide on the shaft and then through the seal but no clicks. It must be engaging something because the trans line connection is pumping a bit of fluid out. Thanks for the help guys, this gets a bit frustrating when I know so little but want to do it myself.
