How much have you spent on your mopar build?? I am just finishing my 360 rebuild for my 73 duster. I tried to squeeze out all HP, I could so I didn't skimp on parts by any means. I totaled just over 5 grand on the engine , next is a custom paint job I don't no what that will run me. My wife said I should have picked a cheaper hobbie!! Women can't live with them can't kill them:)

I'm over 2000 right not with getting a 727 rebuilt and installed and around 800 in other small parts (hood scoops, shifter, steering wheel, etc..) looking for a new steering column right now. I feel better about spending money on my cars than the $10,000 I'm having to spend on an upcoming wedding.

I've built so many cars and don't see an end in sight because I just don't have one favorite...I need a huge storage area and a huge lottery win and maybe in 20 years or so of buying and building,I would have a complete "fleet"

I have an edge as an extremely good professional motor builder is a great friend but even with that said I want to build a 512 stroker with indy heads, roller cam and that's getting Me to 6K real quick...not counting anything but motor...

6k, that must not count intake carb and headers

10,000$$ is that what they charge for a ticket to hell!!!

JK congrats on the wedding

That's a good one. And that's the cost for one with just 75 people, not including her dress. She's paying for half since she wants the wedding. But can you imagine what I could do to my cars with that money!!!

:protest:

Ahem. Be that as it may ................ :-D

In nearly 21 years of ownership and restoration, from $250 POS basketcase ...

I can tell ya my receipt folder is almost six inches thick. I've never had the guts to add it all up. I really don't want to know. If I had to guess, I'd put it between $30-$35K.

Ohhhhhhh, just seeing it in print scares me! But hey, nobody has one just like mine either. :-D And I wouldn't trade the last 21 years for anything.

Besides, I never would've met any of you if I hadn't bought it. So it's all good.

full restoration on a t/a challenger every body panel was repaired or replaced exept the floor and roof.............and i havent even got to the engine rebuild yet. ALOT!!!!!!!!

Leanna very nicem thats you back when ever that was?

Thanks! The first picture is my daughter Mallory LOL -- she was six then -- but I'm the one sanding the roof (about '99). 168 hours with 180 grit on the body and another 18 hours on interior parts ... no compressor, no D.A., and no fingerprints for a few months. The guy who painted it said I saved myself $3 grand taking it down to bare metal versus letting them do it so it was worth all the work.

The look on the neighbor's faces driving by was priceless. You'd think they never saw a lady standing in the missing back window of her car before or something.

That's a beautiful car CudaChick

Thank you hardcore!! :-D

dont know dont keep track and dont care if the duster needs it
it gets it

Not too much...yet. :-D Only in for about $4,300 including the cost of the Duster. But need to order a new steering gearbox, 3.92 gears, carpeting, dash pad, drag radials, all emblems, misc missing interior pieces etc etc....:vom:

CudaChick, I agree with your estimate.

Here's some ball park figures I use for planning based on my two builds:

Car to use as starting point ($2,000 to $6,000)
Paint and body ($8,000 to $10,000
Engine ($5,000 - $7,000) carb to pan
Suspension: ($500 to $2,000)
Interior ($500 to $1500)
Brakes ($200 to $600)
Trans ($200 to $1800)
Rear end ($200 to $1800)
Tires ($350 to $1200)
Wheels ($350 to $1200)
Misc materials and parts ($2,000)

My ball park planning numbers equal approximately $35,100 high end and $19,100 on the low end. These are approximate numbers but this gets you into the game.

I would have to add everything up, but I'm close to $20,000 now, I'm sure. With the original purchase of the car as a starting point, I added:
408 stroker
2800 stall for 904 tranny
new 200R4 tranny, adapter, needed extras, new stall converter
Dana 60 w 4.10
mono leafs
caltracs
floor shifter
line locs
adjustable strut rods
new wheels and tires
front cross drilled rotors to match the rear discs
new tach
new used dash cluster - twice
new dash pad
used hood to cut and mount hood scoop and paint
go wing
new comp cam for original 318
new body seals
new Hella headlights and Daniel Stern headlamp wiring harness
new horns
new fan switch, headlight switch, turn signal switch and dimmer switch
hugely expensive chrome sport mirrors

It hurts to look at it this way, but you know ... I took it out of storage today because it was 50 degrees in January in Minnesota. I came sideways out of the storage facility's driveway an left a ton of smoke and burned rubber behind me. Right there and then I decided it was all worth it.

my 70 dart is not even finished and im right around $28,000....this is where im at...ive ran out of money, cant continue for a few months...:(

body and paint's not done, interior's not done, i need brake lines, fuel lines, cooling system, wiring, exterior lenses and bezels.....wow....i need a few more thousand...maybe 8 k....lol

too much. But I figure, by the time its done.....I couldnt go buy one as nice as mine for what I have invested into it....so atleast thats a plus side .

I do not keep track. If i did, I would of been out of this hobby a long time ago. Having fun and meeting great people worth every penny.

My swinger probably 7-8k including purchase price but it helps when you do all the labor yourself. The Super Coupe is only at 5k right now with maybe 2k left in stuff I need to buy.

If I added up the amount of time I would charge someone else to do all the work though... I wouldn't want to pay that bill, I am glad others pay me to do it for them.

Close to $30k. Engine and trans, interior and paint were done by friends that gave me a good price. I disassembled the car to a bare shell and sent it to the body shop. Then had the engine built by BLE in Northridge Clifornia and the tranny to the shop that does all his race trans. When I got the body done and engine done and delivered to the house I completely rewired the car, installed a new brake system, had the rearend done, new fuel system, complete exhaust system and assembled it all on weekends and a couple hours a day after work. Then to the upholstery shop to complete it.
