How to install hood emblem

New to Mopar restorations. Working on a 65 Dodge Dart GT. It came with the hood emblem but it wasn’t installed. What is it that holds it to the hood? Is there some sort of backing that’s supposed to go on the pegs?

If the pegs just fall into the holes there`s probably a thin metal sleeve that then makes a tight compression fit. Don`t know exact key word.

On my 67 dart the letters and emblems are held on with a form of speed nut.

The sleeves, I believe, are a later, like 70s, invention. But there is a lot I don't know about early As

Classic Industries has 2 sizes of Speed Nuts and 2 sizes of Barrel Nuts. You can purchase them individually, 4 piece and 8 piece.

Should be self-threading speed nuts on the emblems studs. If you pull the hood latch off first, it's usually easier to get to them with a 1/4" drive socket. 5/16" deep IIRC.
