Ok my 360 is waiting its turn on the engine stand.I have the 318 on it now, what should I do to store it the heads are off it and timing cover is of it also,I had planed to reuse the 318 but from great advice here the 360 is how I am going.I realy have almost no room in my car shelter as it is.I may have to build a box and put it out side or cram it in the shelter.I may sell the 318 laiter on so for now any tips would save this 318 from being scrap.

I would get one of those engine cradles. And put the motor up off the ground with engine hoist. Then I would wrap it in plastic wrap with the engine cradle being held in place. And I mean wrap it big time, OVERKILL!!!! Basically make it as air tight as you possibly can. Then I would wrap it again in thick plastic. And make that as air tight as possible. Then I would wrap a tarp around it and Duct Tape the hell out of it. Take it off the Then stick it outside your shed either inside a wooded crate, plastic crate, or what ever else. I figure you'll spend around $30-$40.00 maybe less for all of the plastic. Then look on craigslist or wherever for the crate material. I did this same thing to a 273 commando motor back in the late 80's. Did all I described to you above and then stuck it out side next to my shed. I opened it up in 2005 and it was exactly like it was when I put it in there. A TIME CAPSULE!!!!

I didn't. As long as it is AIR TIGHT there should not be a problem. It is really easy to get it air tight with the plastic wrap. Then when you go the extra mile with the rest of it. Your golden. If you are paranoid, you could oil it up. But I didn't and you saw how long my motor sat outside like that. Happy wrapping.

I just opened up my old 360 after about a 8 year rest. The rust was at a absoulte min. I'm haveing a assembley balanced now to put into it with no work to the block needed.
