Bought a late model Dodge Dakota denso alternator and I am trying to find out if it is internal or external regulated? I am still new to this and any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lee
So far as I know very few had internal regulators. They either had an external regulator, or the late model EFI stuff actually has the regulator inside the computer
Should be external regulated. One large battery terminal, and two small (screw stud) terminals, on the back for the regulator. The stock chrysler electronic regulator will work just fine.
It has the one stud for the + or power and the two small studs. I pulled the harness with it (part of it) and it has a rubber block portion that contains the two wires (I guess to and from the regulator) and the two small wires and the hot wire is a 4th wire in the harness. I went back this morning and looked and it was a 1990 model Dakota. Thanks for the help. Do you know if it matters which of the small wires I connect to the regulator?
