I Am Thinking It Might Be About Time To Start Downsizing My Possessions

-
Even at 33 the “might use it one day” parts go away after a short period in the garage. Had a nice rear bumper for my dart for years and never put it on. Young(er) kid came to buy a couple parts and asked about it so I gave it to him for his dart.

With that being said… @PROSTOCKTOM if you decide to “clean out” a certain balancer bolt/washer I’m your guy

I keep those bolts and washers in a velvet lined box under my bed.

I'll make sure to include you in my will just in case.

Extra parts???? Makes a difference if a guy actually drives his old car and might need a spare part!!!!
Makes a difference IF a guy might continue to build old cars or if he is a one shot wonder!

I figured Id sell stuff when my car is done my car is just about done...a big thing for me is to quit buying I have enough carburetors etc.

Ha yup
I try to get rid of stuff when I'm done....then you need that .....

It’s like when you’re nearly done on a house renovation and your stumbling around tripping over timber off cuts, offcuts of drywall, so you take it all to the tip, then the very next week, you have to go and buy a whole sheet of drywall, a length of joist, a roll of cable, just to make good some tiny job.

I'm in the waiting room at cardiology right now. I'm getting my nuclear stress test. Just got off the treadmill. Waiting to go back for my last set of pictures.
I've been doing a lot of thinking the last several days. I've been taking care of my wife and almost all household duties for 20 years. My Mom moved in last summer. She would probably have to move in with my sister if something happens to me but she really doesn't want to. And my wife has one 35 year old niece whose life has to be subsidized by someone.
My wife is almost clueless with online banking, streaming tv problems, cell phone problems, etc..
I'm sure it's beyond time for me to start simplifying our lives.

I always daydreamed about a big garage with maybe a travel trailer parked inside one corner of it. That way I could keep an eye on my entire garage
Me and the wife drove past a lot in our area years ago, at the time there was a single wide trailer with a huge garage behind it tall door opening industrial you could use it for storage or have a shop etc. i said "thats my dream home more priority/money spent on the shop..." the wife didn't think that was funny...

It has finally begun for Red and I. I sold one of the largest part items...my spare 65 Barracuda hood to Babyblue66. Will be posting bits and pieces, full body panels, maybe a couple of engines and definitely a few project cars. We have almost decided about the cars. We are going to lighten the carload. One 1966 Formula S 4 gear Barracuda is leaving. One 65 automatic performance package Barracuda. One 4 gear commando 65 Barracuda. I'm still holding on to keeping a 67 Fastback Formula S Barracuda with factory air and the 67 Coronet R/T. We will post everything on For A Bodies first and see how it goes. It's time guys. I can still enjoy my Avatar car and Red gets the 67 convertible Barracuda.

I've been hard at it this week and just about have the 96-gallon tote full for the trashman in the morning. Also a friend stopped by yesterday and took a pair of drag slicks and some nice

hardback books home. The more I get rid of the happier I am getting.

Let me know if a high rise sb intake is going in the dump. Need something to replace my performer non rpm on the 318 lololol. All joking aside that’s great. Keep it up.

Sorry, but I don't own one piece of SBM in the whole bunch.

This may sound a little prophetic, for lack of a better word, and somewhat apropos to this thread, but just now I finally met the neighbor that bought the house across the street and one door down, roughly a year ago. Young guy (26), smart, nice, and polite, and works for a mechanical contractor in Mpls. (so we have THAT in common). We got to talking….. and it turns out he’s a Car Guy! I didn’t ask him about any brand loyalty, but he seemed to be able to “talk the talk”, as it were. Anyway, Since he’s just starting out I told him if he needed to borrow anything, or needed anything welded (etc, etc) to feel free to just stop on by!

If this “kid” works out, I may just have found someone to give some of my stuff to when I reach a certain age, as none of my nephews would have a clue what any of that stuff is.

Hopefully he's not into the JDM scene. If he asks you to weld a fart cannon on, well there's your answer!

:rofl::rofl:

My Lincoln mig is SAE only, Randy! It don’t work on those!
Man you never know. My dad has a guy who is like 30 who moved in close by. He has a late 60s mustang, a 50s Chevy truck, and a 90s civic. Already has the too many project problem lololol. But super cool guy. Isn’t brand loyal but just a genuine car guy. Occasionally asks my dad for help. Is cool to see.

I purchased this stuff back when people could afford to purchase it these days it would be impossible to afford to buy this stuff at today's rate I know for a fact I'm not going upside down...but I do worry the people( friends) will sell the cars once they inherited them...My nephew will be mopar rich one day with a journal from me of price rates when days were old and nights were cold...My 2 step daughters might get one each.....I study who keeps things and who sells everything.....I phuck with keepers!!!

I am amazed by the number of cars that sell every year thru Mecum/BJ! No wonder it is so hard to find a builder project of any worthwhile model in any brand!!!
I should not say "worthwhile" but I should say a model that a guy can build at home and not be a zillion dollars up side down IF he wanted or needed to sell!
And this has pretty much become the norm in the last 20 years maybe.

Today I probably gave the local library 300 pounds of very nice hardback books worth at least $5000 when I bought them.

They will be lucky to sell 20 of them at a book sale, and most likely toss them in a dumpster, but they can deal with that, as they are out of my hair.

Well it's Thursday night, I just wheeled the 96-gallon tote to the road packed to the top and weighing in at several hundred pounds.

I can see some progress, but this is going to take awhile. Oh, and I might be picking up a 64 Belvedere soon.

Spring cleaning did some good...just don't take it apart.
Best advice I can ever give a guy new to the hobby, that buys a
"project", is NEVER take it apart unless YOU know you can and will pout it back together!!!!!
And take pics and mark it all and put it in bags and keep the 7 year old out of IT!!!
