I bought a northern radiator ( crossflow) for my 73 scamp, then I bought a northern fan shroud. the problem is my stock 18" fan wont fit in the shroud, I measured it and the largest fan that will work is a 15" so I bought a stock style 15" there is a label on the fan blade that states "max rated r.p.m. 4,000" even though I'm using an electric fan in front of the radiator in not sure about this. I plan on doing more then 4,000 rpm at one time or another.
any ideas ?

whew - with all the recent attention over fans, I hear ya.. I wouldn't use it. Have you tried searching for one that specs to what you need?

I'm betting that's fan speed, not engine speed. Do the math on your pulley diameters.

I doubt very much the fan turns much slower than the engine. "if any"

I had a Northern Rad crossflow in my Duster, worked great on highway but not worth a **** in town. Had lots of fabing to put shroud on and I think I got a 16" fan on. Also have Classic Air A/C and then had problems with condensor install. Pulled all that out and am putting in a 26" Champion now, much better fit and 20" clutch fan. The condensor also went in much better.

What's wrong with running that honking big turbofan without a shroud? How many steel blades that hummer got? And why the auxilliary electric fan?
I run a 430 hp 360 on the little 7-blade oem, all steel, A/C teener fan;no problemo, even on the 43 year old oem radiator and running a 205* stat. Oh yeah 7000rpm too.Plus parades, etc.
My secret? FORD pick-up thermostatic clutch, and a Milodon hi-flo pump with the anti-cav plate. I used to run straight water in summer, but I discovered, that, as the timing got closer to ideal, the engine accepted 50/50 ok.
You must be running a lot more engine, or it's a lot hotter in your neck of the woods. Wataminute, I ran my S down to Minneapolis/St.Pauls in 04. July I think it was. For the CarCraft Nationals. Yup, those were good times.Hot as Hades tho.....So that just leaves the engine....Ima guessing BB with a BIG cam then, and a BIG TC too?
