I have a question

The rubber retainer that holds the M/C push rod in place, need to know if the rubber retainer gets put on the push rod first & then insert the rod into the M/C.

Or does the rubber retainer go into the M/C first & shove the rod home.
Wow, that sounds kinda nasty when I put it that way. LOL

I need one of those rubber things for my '79 B body.
