I just can't slant .....

I'd probably do the same thing. It'll make towing much easier.
That's why im building 2 trucks. A daily driver and a tow pig. Drive the wheels off the /6 and save the miles off the tow pig for what it's being built for.. 2 trucks instead of 1, and still cheaper (and BETTER) any 1 new truck. Can't wait for that so I can send my '12 "no character" 1500 with its 4.7 down the road. In non salt season the /6 will gladly eat up the 70 mile a day round trip I have to drive to work and back.... And happily haul a bed load of mowers weed eater, leaf blower, gas cans and pressure sprayer filled with roundup back n forth to the mother in laws once a week...

Neither a show truck, both show better (rust and dents wise) than many 10 yo trucks in the area without the 47 "control modules" and BS messages that anyone with a little common sense really doesn't need to have plastered in their face, ya know, the "K I S S" thing.
You don't need the newest shiniest truck to stand out. And mine won't depreciate near as quick as that 70K + truck will.

To me if the OP understands the pro's and con's of their decision, people should either help or get out of the way, I don't quite get it, 318willrun knows what he's wants/doing, it don't have make sense to me, not my truck.

How many other people take thier relative's old vehicles and freshen them up to make them more enjoyable?

Cuz that's exactly what you usually do...(try to) Talk people into, not out of
Plus, I have my eye out for a dodge truck to put a slant in now, so I ain't time nor the wanna to convince somebody to do the right thing. lol

It's a short wheelbase truck, so I can't see me ever pulling anything of substance with it. Weirdly enough, my tow rig is our B250 van. It pulls our car trailer with a Duster or Drag truck just fine.

I miss my van. Unfortunately the few I see anywhere anymore are the newest among them and the rotten-est of all particularly the front frame around the steering box. The older ones never seemed to rot out there
Mine was an 87 and yes it towed fantastic

& I'm sure he knows how to build a stump puller 318, too!

You can find one, just not in Illinois!

yes, must watch around the steering box, especially on the ones made from '94 till the end

Pretty much applies to any vehicle that's 10 years old or older....
Absolutely zero rust on that Dodge pu that I bought in Florida, and has spent its entire life here in horse country. And I was just looking for a better tow vehicle than my 96 Tahoe, gutless & couldn't pull the hills in Alabama.

I'm building an 83 Dodge D250 from the frame up right now. Won't be a Cummins (could never afford the buy in) all the body parts going on my original frame are from Colorado or Georgia. And I'm not driving it when done in the road salt and brine season I have a 317k and counting, Durango that's starting to show it's age to take that abuse

The tin grills and even 1st gens are really climbing in price in the past few years, especially if they are clean.

Also 3- Poly 318’s…..
They have an old Roadkill Dave and Steve get in a old Dodge Truck plan is to drive across country picking up stuff to do 440 swap. But Dave says after some time in it nope staying 318 Poly. It just ran and ran. The more they drove the more he liked it.

I'll be selling my 93 Dodge Cummins fairly soon. You want to put a Slant in it?
I had a 94 2500hd 354 rear auto. Was what we wanted since I did 90% hwy.
Got 29mpg empty and 24-25 pulling my open carrying car trailer with car on it. Or pallet of ceramic tile tools and setting materials.

Stolen and wrecked.

I hope so
Not sure on the availability and price difference from Cali to the top of IL, but here if they are a nice, clean, solid, good running truck, they bring money. Short bed, long bed, 2wd, club cab, 4x4, all of them. Many are North of 10k for a goodun.. And almost every complete running truck is 2500 even with some rust and dents with a little shabby interior.

I am going to ask since this a a slant thread.
Sorry for the Piggy Back question.
Is the lid the same size on Super Six the same as the 1bbl or is the 2bbl lid bigger? it has been since 1980_81 I had 225-1bbl and my neighbor bought a new car with super six. I never looked at them side by side back then even though both were just there.
Yes I know the base not the same. BTW my 225-1 was swapped for a small 4bbl and headers.
