I need two tenths out of this combo. Were is the best place to start? Right now, NOS is not a option.
Here's my combo:
.030 360 190kb's 10.8 comp
587 heads with port work 2.05 1.62's
roller rockers 1.5
holley strip intake
proform 750carb
Racerbrown st-21 520lift [email protected]
13/4 headers
4400 convertor CRT 727
4.86 gear 29.5x9.0 mt's
MSD elec system
38 total timing
in a 70 dart 3100lb race only 7.10 94.87mph 1.50360ft 1/8th mile, shifting at 6200rpms

587 heads with port work 2.05 1.62's
....Take head off and polish chamber and exhaust ports, clean up valves and ports.
holley strip intake
Carb spacer?
proform 750carb
K&N stub stack with tall air cleaner and extreme lid
4.86 gear 29.5x9.0 mt's
Proper inflation is critical. Front tires could be over inflated for less tire on the ground and rolling resitance.

Hows your plug gap?
Have you messed with shift rpm recently?

Just grasping at straws.

I lost 5 tenths and gained 6 MPH by

1. running least amount of fuel possible
2. having the front end alignment freshened up
3. H pipe in my 3 inch exhaust, do you run exhaust at the strip??
4. dropping shift points 200 RPM to 6000rpm, what do you go through the traps at??

Obviously none of these will help if you've done them already so I would experiment with carb spacers and fresh air if possible. Like it was already said 100lbs a tenth,

look into your gearing. i ran it through one calculator (they all seem to be a little different) using 96 mph, auto tranny, 29.5 tire. calls for 5.37 gears at 6200 rpm.maybe 5 .13 s ? to give back a little motor. most 1/8 milers around here use that gear. A shorter tire will do the same thing.
I also agree with weight removal one tenth per hundred lbs is a good estimate, take the weight from the front if you can. this is only my opinion, for what it is worth.
good luck ......Ron

I have a very similiar combo (3.79 stroke) I'm putting the finishing touches on to drop in my 68 Dart.
On Jim's (RB) recommendation I'm going with 1.6 Intakes to get some more charge in there. gives ya .554 lift
I am a bit suprised @ the total timing of 38* with 10.8 compression. You may have all ready tried it but I would drop back to 33-34 and see if it makes a difference - it should on the top end.

All good suggestions so far, especially the one to lose weight and play with the timing. Other than that I've found my cars respond very well to larger than would be suggested carbs. You might try a 950 or 850 on it, you might just be very surprised. Carb spacers are also a good idea, my car picked up a solid 2 tenths with a 2 inch spacer and fresh air scoop.

My motor liked 38* of timing the best on the dyno with 11:1 comp.
