Please help a new guy...'66 valiant signet. p174/r80/13 dry rotted tires/ can't find anything but $175.00 cokers.

what are my options..?

can I bolt on regular 14 inch rims, and hunt for some 14's..do I need to look at going to a R70 height because of the diameter increase..?

will /Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge 14 inch rims all be the same...?

If I had 14 inch wheels, what do you think my parameter for the 1st number be...?
p205 / p215..please explain

can I do 15 inch rims, and in turn stay with a R60 height as well..?

Please give me some recommendations, thanks..Freaking out in Lyndonville,NY

14" wheel and a 195/70R14 or 205/70R14, would be close to factory height and a simple swap.

15" wheel and a 195/65R15, 195/70R15, 205/65R15 or 215/60R15 are other options.

16" wheel and tire combo would be cool something like a 195/60R16, 205/60R16 or 215/55R16 should fit all the way around and be close to factory height.

And if you get different rims, make sure the bolt pattern matches your car. There is small bolt pattern (5x4") and large bolt pattern (5x4.5").

You can measure yours to know, I'm pretty sure yours will be SBP on the early A.

Heres a little info in tire size...

The way to read the tire size as shown on the sidewall would, in your case, be as follows...

195= The width of the tread as measured in millimeters, or 195mm in your case
"R"= radial
"70"= the height of the sidewall in relation to the width of the tread, given in percentage. In your case, yours is 70% of 195mm
"14"= the width of the rim

The widest stock 14" rims available for the small bolt pattern, which I am assuming your car still has, would be 5.5". Generally speaking, the widest tire recommended for that width would be a 215mm, although I know there are many that have gone wider than that!!

Sounds like you're leaving some rubber on the table so to speak with a 195!! Geof

205/70-14 would be a better tire. Lot more stable.

Also low on the tire learning curve.
My 69 is running the 5 bolt sbp. The tires that came with the car are about 15 years old and are the following size;
Front: 205/70/R14
Rear: 235/60/R14

Question...is it unusual to have different sizes like this on a /6 car?

I'm running 14x6-4 inch back space-fronts 14x7-4.25 back space-rear ralleys on my 66 cuda [same as valiant] no modifications [spring relocation,mini tub ect.] I just installed 245/60/14 BFGs on the rear and 235/60/14 BFGs on the front [gonna change the fronts to 205/70/14s because I don't like the width and slight rubbing at full lock] now my car is lowered 3 inches rear and 2-2 1/2 front that's the only mod.

the 14" rims on my Signet are of police car variety. Tire sizes are 205/70 in front and 245/60 in rear. Both are very close to being the same height yet the front tires do not hit because they are narrower than the rear tires. This is the look and the feel I've had on this vehicle for almost 30 years.
