Just wondering how common this is.... 318 block with the IHC logo cast into it.

At one time International had huge foundry capacity and cast parts for many manufacturers. How many blocks did they do for Ma Mopar?

I have had a couple, nothing special or different about them.
IH had a foundry in Indianapolis. In the early ‘90s IH evolved into Navistar. The Indianapolis foundry opened in 1938 and closed in 2009. The foundry and adjoining engine machining and assembly plant located on the East side of Indianapolis is currently being leveled. In its last years the Indianapolis foundry was know as ICC and Pure Power, but was owned by Navistar.
In the mid 1970’s IH had a contract to produce 318 blocks for Chrysler. I could track down the person with actual production numbers, IIRC, there were about 40K 318 blocks cast per year for about 3 to 4 years.

Now we know...

I live one mile from the largest grey iron foundry in the world. 20 years ago my son rebuilt a HiPo Ford 289...it had the Waupaca Foundry "WF" logo in the lifter valley. I knew the company president who worked his way through the company in the 50's. He swore they never made any Ford engine blocks but couldn't explain the company logo on that block...

Yep.. It's all about subletting work out for a cheaper price. Purely economics. I live in Waterloo, Iowa home of John Deere tractors. JD cast 2.5 litre GM blocks for a few years.
