I'll admit it.... Brand X that I really like, and it's a GM.

I've mentioned before that I like "classic cars", and owned others besides Mopars. However, in my car past I've owned a couple of '66 Buick Specials. They were fun to drive, reliable, and good-looking cars. The '66-67 Specials/Skylarks have always been in the back of my mind. Someday, I wouldn't mind owning another....

Both of my were 4 doors. One was 225 V6 with a 3 on the tree. I raced my brothers 225 /6 in his dart, a low mileage great running dart, and I beat it so bad it didn't even look like we were racing. I also beat a 4.1 4bbl Tornado pretty bad, and I beat a '73 Impala with a 350 V8 with it. Never failed to start, and I couldn't kill it no matter how hard I beat it. Purred like a kitten when it went to the junkyard

The other was a 300 V8 2 speed auto. It too was bullet proof. These cars rode really nice. I remember my other brother had a fairly new escort, 1.9 5-speed and he thought he could beat me.... LOL. Wrong!

Here is the one with the 300 V8. It came into our family for a 50 dollar bill. In the background you can see the escort it beat :D

My (late) uncle had a GS400 for many years. In SW Ohio, so it was rusty and looked like crap, but it ran well. The end came when his son slid off the road in the snow at ten mph and bumped into a tree. Broke the frame.

My taste in Buicks consists of the 70 GSX and 68/69 GS .
My grandma had a bunch of luxury Buicks over the years, but not one performance car out of the bunch.
A guy in the town over had a 69 stage 1 4spd, kicked his butt quite often with the 383. He still has it and he'd still lose.

318willrun your mind is going back a few decades!!! I have always loved the style of those GM 64, 65 Olds , Buicks.
Heck there are some AMC 2 door Ramblers out of the mid 60s I think are cool. Hard to buy any project around here. Not sure what they are all smoking?

My first A bodies were a 67, then a 65 GTO/lemans respectively. The 7 had a 400 and the 5 I stuffed in a 455. both 4 speeds for awhile then the 5 got a Richmond race 5 speed no syncro. There was some fun there. I do like the buick GS as its somewhat oddball and a bit sleeper with some of those powerplants they came with.

Truth be known I liked all the mid-sized cars from 63 -70.
my very first car was a 63 Nova SS straight 6, first engine swap I ever did, Dad helped me put a 327 in it.

Found a picture of my other '66 with the V6, 3 on the tree. I gave a 125 bucks for this one. Looking at these makes me want to go shopping. I'm even fine with a 4 door...........

                            Just kidding!:poke:
My buddy had a 67 Skylark 4 dr hardtop way back, had a 340 with a super turbine transmission (or something like that). That car was a ton of fun and near impossible to kill. He finally blew it up one morning on the way to work, wide open throttle in first gear until it scattered. Pulled it apart and found that the cam had broken in two pieces, and one of them had been jammed into the torque convertor.
My asshole brother had a pair of '65 Skylark Gran Sports, one was a 401 4 bbl automatic, the other had a dual quad from a Riviera on the 401 and a 4 speed.
I have a real liking for the 70 Stage 1 cars, but likely will never have one since they are not in my budget. I also would love to have a 70 Chevelle SS454, but that won't likely happen either, though my brother has a tribute car that I have had a chance to drive a couple times.

well then, I bought this '66 Biscayne from my Grandma's garage sale in Hill City, SD. 500 bucks, she bought it brand new. 283, PG. But, it was factory 3 on tree, and my Grandpa said he wanted an auto for Grandma, so the dealership pulled the standard and installed the PG. Imagine that from a dealer today!!!! Anyways, here it is.... And that's my Dad's '72 Skylark you can see sitting in front of it. This would have been about exactly 30 years ago.

I like the styling of the mid 60’s Buick Special & Skylark. Completely forgot they came with V6 & V8.

I traded My 65 Dart in for a 65 GranSport. I wish I had the Dart back but with a 401 under the hood the Buick was a good "Family" car which I needed at the time.

Was a 66 Biscayne 2 dr post with a 427 and a 4 speed for sale around here a year or so back. Would be a fun ride.

An old friend of mine decide on a ‘66 Skylark but needed the 455. Custom headers by Kooks, extremely pricey!
He decided on 3.55’s on 26 tires and hated it. So he spring for a 4spd-od auto and a expensive as heck JVX adapter plate.

Being he has money to burn (Good to be the King!)
He did leather everywhere in the interior. Headliner, rear package tray, everything. Subtle and awesome. It’s a bad to the nine car that drives as easy as stock and will lay down high 11’s with a good tire.

I can easily see another '66/67 special or skylark in my future...... and I'd love another 225 V6 with a 3 on the tree. It was decent on gas, had plenty of power, and reliable. I honestly can't remember ever putting a wrench on it, except to change oil. Shifted smooth and fast as silk. It trooped through the snow, and would start no matter the temp. I beat that car so hard.... Hold the RPM's till there was no mo RPM's LOL :D
