I bet you thought I was talking about the Demon. No, I don't think it will ever be done. LOL

What I am talking about is the Christmas Shopping. I have it finished. Just have to wrap all this stuff up now.

How about you guy's? Are you all going to finish in time?

Jack

Jack, funny (!) you should mention that. The wifey and I drove an hour to the Walmart in Camrose last week to finish up our shopping. We then spent 2.5 hours shopping, each with our own cart and area. The wife bought something for me in the hunting dept (Can't wait to see what it was), and managed to pay for her cart full of purchases right there.
Meanwhile, back at till # 7 stood Sid, for 1/2 an hour. Hey, it's the XMAS season and I was cool with that. Then, with one person in front of me the till lady looks down the line and informs us that her debit machine hasn't been working for 20 minutes! Why didn't you mention this 20 minutes ago (as my XMAS spirit begins to wane). Move over to rear of line on till # 9. "Does your debit machine work, ma'am" I enquire from way down the line. "NO, it doesn't"
So, I shout to the lady on till #4, "Ma'am, does your debit machine work?" With a true XMAS smile she cherfully replied "YES, it does." Move to end of line on till #4. Finally get up to the point where all my purchases are laid on the conveyor. Dude in front of me attempts to use his debit card and over the loudspeaker system comes the cheerful message: "We regret to inform all our shoppers that all of our debit card machines are down".
MERRY F***'in XMAS! So, right in front of me is a bank machine with an "Out of Order" sign on it. I ask the lady what is wrong with it and she says it's out of cash and they can't restock during banking hours???????? :) :) :) As my XMAS spirt wanes even lower! :) :)
Load everything back in the shopping cart, bend over the till and give the lady a little kiss on the cheek,(she blushed like crasy), say: "Merry Xmas Ma'am - please have one of your elfs return these almost purchased items to their respective places in the store". Hasta la vista babes.
So, Jack, to answer you question about if I'm going to finish my shopping in time..............ALMOST!! I was THIS damned close. :)

With a lot of help, I took 150 kids shopping at our local WalMart, wrote a check for close to $16k!

Sid,
That has got to be one of the worst stories I have heard about shopping this year. I hope you have better luck this weekend.

LD360,
I would gladly pay $16K not to take the 150 kids. I know I would be nuts with that many kids around. LOL

Jack

Aw, it's all part of the Christmas shopping experience. :) I have to go to Edmonton tomorrow so I'll stop at Wally's world and fill my cart again. (I'll also have a pocket full of cash, just in case)

Yup I'm done my shopping as of last week. Good thing about working shift you have time off in the middle of the week.

All I can say is I'm glad I don't have 150 kids like lawndart360!!

Try and remember the Christmas Spirit, while standing in those long lines!!

Good move on the cash.
Wish I hade your patiant's,Cause I am not sure how I would have handeld that much bad service out of wallmart's, or any store,
glad it is all behind you now,
My chrismas shopping is never done. It'a an every day thing to me.

I always thought I was a really patient guy, one of the reasons I can restore cars but I think I would have blown a gasket if I was in Sid's shoes, and take 150 kids shopping, oh good Lord no. Good on you guys!

Can you imagine the look on the Person Filling out Lawndarts Tax form when they have to list all his DEPENDANTS!LOL :-k

Gotta tell you, did not see that coming, but if you do the math, and assume I started at the young age of 15, that would make an average of 7.5 kids a year, every year for the last 20 years. WOW! Anyways, I can tolerate the crowds for 3 or 4 hours, it sweetens the pot to know that the 16k did not come out of my pocket. But being able to provide for a child that will not be able to have a Christmas warms the heart and after 9 years of doing this, I could tell you story after story after story.....We all know where we stand, but imagine a small child who has never owned a hat, or gloves, or boots, or even an adequate coat, let alone a bicycle or a doll. Let's remember the youth of today that are less fortunate, if we don't take care of our own, who will?

Thats a very noble thing you do lawndart360. I'm sure everyone here is proud of you. We buy our kids each an extra present, and they take it to a toy drive at the mall.
If everyone on this site gave one unfortunate kid a gift, that would be a lot of kids with something on Christmas day.

Lawndart, that's what Christmas is all about, and I'm sure that everyone here is like me, with the utmost respect for giving your time and effort to show these kids that there are still some caring people in this world. Good on ya' mate. :)

I may make light of what you are doing, but.
I know where your are coming from Lawndart. My wife and I are on foster kids 3 and 4 right now. That is after having 4 of our own. Somebody might get the impression I like kids. Really I don't care for kids that much, but I can put up with a little pain in order for them to have a decent place to grow up in. They can't look after themselves when they are pre-teens.

Jack

Jack, I guess we have a lot in common, I also am on #3 and #4 foster kids, and still have 3 boys of my own at home. I little hectic at times, and it really cuts into my dart time, but looking into those big, blue eyes of my 18 month old little girl seems to put everything into perspective, if it were not for people like us, these kids wouldn't have a chance.
