Why so rare? Such a beautiful color, every time I google this mopar color seldom EVER do I find many pics of it. Also most painters can't seem to duplicate it properly and end up coming too dark or too light. It's mystical and amazing. Would be great if someone could tell me a place or person I could go to -- to get the exact color, pictures are welcome too! We need to start a collection of hi-impact colors =3

FC7 is the code.It was not offered until mid 1970 and in 1971.High impact and buffed paint colors were extra cost. The color FC7 also had problems with it peeling and fading on cars that were not too old.So often the color was painted over with another color.

Two of them did - FM3 & FJ6. The other 18 colors (high impact or not) were available from the start of the model year.

Some of them like Hemi Orange as one example started in the 1969 model year also.

Most call the color "plum crazy" instead of "in violet". It's the same color, just a different name between Plymouth and Dodge.

I thought plum crazy and in-violet were different. In-violet always seems to have more layer/sheen to it than plum crazy purple. I understand it might be light conditions, but for some reason it always comes off as a bi-color metallic tone to me.

I see cars claiming to be plum crazy or inviolet and they just look barely baby blue or very dark purple maybe its my eyes, im color blind and dont see reds and greens very clearly but im going by photos on google time being...... lighting conditions i guess, maybe someone needs to take it to a new level! sort of a light gold laquer base coat, cover with in-violet/plum crazy in a candy format so it shines through slightly, 2 gloss coats might be neat.

rare? go to any major mopar event and you'll see so many plum crazy/in violet cars you'll be sick of the color by the end of the weekend.

there are like three plum crazy/ in violet colors. you have the original and then you have alt 1 and alt 2. all three are slightly different in color. must have been from different suppliers back in the day.

yea most of the high impact colors were different names for dodge and plymouth bit were called just one name by most. usually the catchier name it seems..
