i have an chance to buy a other brand block & crank.
i'm not up to speed on ford parts but if it would benefit
me to buy it to resell, i could use the bucks to work on
my car and shop.
it is a 428 scj block & crank only.
how do you verify what it is?
approx. value - rarity.
any info would be appricated.
thanks :salute:

Hi Longarm

Get on a Mustang, or Ford board, and ask there. Wait for several opinions, as some members there might try to lowball it's worth. I'm sure they are like us "normal" car guys, and will help you out with that info. You got guts posting that question here brother. You have my admiration.

anytime i can swap or sell cheap ford parts for parts i need
for my dodge its a win for me.
its like trading lead for gold.
chasing the dollar. :axe:
cash is at a premium.
my hobbies are breaking me up.

Like what MtNemoMopar said, sign up at one of the Ford forums and ask the question. It's not that we don't want to help, just don't know how. We're all Mopar guys. Maybe there is someone here that knows a little about Fords...Aaack, I said the "F" word again :blah5: but you should get waaay more responses on the "other" board. Good Luck!

Thrashard340, You and longarm, and myself had best go wash our mouths out with soap. Smart selling that crap for good moparts, but dumb for saying the "F" word.

i know its ironic selling ferd parts so they can go slower
while i use their money to buy parts to go faster.

that i'd have rustang nuts drooling and falling all
over themselves trying to put money in my hand.

the thought of skipping all the way to jeg's with all
that ill gotten money,.

with my change, to the carryout for beer to wash out my mouth,
and sooth my tortured mind and help me forget..........
the TTI exhaust with x pipe i've been saving for.

i deserve 50 lashes with my new lokar kickdown cable setup
i'm planning to buy at jeg's.
oh the shame.

i hope you can forgive me, :lurk:

Block wise, at the back of the block inside the bellhousing area will be a very poorly welded in "C" or "A". The "C" is a CJ and an "A" is a SCJ. Some (but not very many) 428's also had 428 cast in the water jacket. Notice that the block with the "A" is still cast 352.

The blue block has a "C" at the upper left corner of the engine stand plate and it is easy to see the "A" on the bare block.

Crank wise, it will be stamped "U1" or "U1A" don't expect a forged crank because they are not, the are cast nodular iron.

i really appreciate your help.
i'm going to see these pieces tomorrow and
knowing what i'm looking for eases my mind.
the same guy i bought the 392 hemi from has
these parts.
he and his dad were tractor pullers in the 70's.
they also have a tractor with a 455 buick motor setup
in it for sale. 1200.00 bucks.
i'm excited to see what else they have to show me.
thanks again,
longarm
