I must have one of the rare intact ones. This one only pushes the linkage out of the reverse gate though, is this correct? Spring is about 3/4 inch long uncompressed.
I modified the linkage with a machined high tensile bolt to remove some free-play as the pin was worn, this also has a friction disc which i arced more. I've machined spacers where the linkage bolts to the bracket to just put a small amount of friction in the linkage when the bolts are done up tight.
Linkage feels spot on.

This spring places the shifter in the 1-2 gate instead of 3-4. The reverse is locked out and driver lifts the T handle to go to reverse.

I'm leaving mine how i have it. The T handle does lock out the reverse gate, the spring just pushes/assists the linkage back out of the reverse gate.

I think it will feel odd spring loaded into the 1/2 gate as all the other vehicles i have are spring loaded into the 3/4 gate.
