I have my 340 and auto transmission installed on the K frame sitting on a home made stand. I plan on installing the combination from underneath.

After installing the PS gear, I found that there is a light rubbing where the steering coupler passes the exhaust manifold. I assume that once the combo gets installed in the car, there will be some left to right levelling thus increasing the clearance between the coupler and manifold??????

Also.......What is involved in changing a PS gear in a running driving car? How much dis-assembly is required to change one out?

Thanks FABO

Not sure which way you need to move, but you can move your engine up/down and side to side by loosening the block to motor mount brackets. You will need and engine hoist to do this. Up to 1/2" is possible.

I be interested to hear what it takes to replace it with the motor in the car too. More along the lines of getting it out and replacing it with a Borgeson though

I was hoping to hear from someone who has done it before. To me, it almost looks like it would be easier to pull the DS lower control arm and torsion bar and pull it out from underneath. I am going to try my OEM box.......If I'm not happy a Borgeson swap may be in my future.......But, my OEM box was good enough in the 80's and I built this car to re-live my youth.

You can get the steering gear out with the engine in, but you may or probably will have to lift the engine on that side.
