"Fan blade should be no less than 3/4 inch from the radiator "

Been searching for that, good to know
Included in kit is brass reducer good thing, my shaft is 5/8

looks like it it's about 2 1/2 in high,
The fan is set back on the clutch I'll have plenty of clearance

Mine is much closer than that and I think I have the short clutch.

Is that a 2947? My 2947 was unbelievably hard to install the water pump bolts in. Just no room to work.

Wow! All these years and I’ve been guessing right. Thanks for that info. Factory is typically about 5/8” depending on the amount of beer the installer had the night before.
Thank you again.

Yeah, 3/4" seems like a sweet spot. 5/8" is good if you can get the bolts in. 1" is fine. When I see more gap than that I start looking for a spacer.

Installing the clutch fans is easy compared to a standard fan with spacer because the bolts are way in the back, behind the blades, with plenty of clearance.

Cover the face of the radiator with thin plywood or cardboard. It may help curb slipped wrench radiator dent or even scrapped up knuckles. Just remember to remove it when done!

From the MP Chassis Book .........
