I just modified my instrument cluster per below:

http://www.allpar.com/history/mopar/electrical2.html

Haven't tried it yet.

Found the chip and capacitor at a Mom & Pop supply store...Part# 7805C

(The store has since closed.)

Bought three while I was there. Don't expect I'll need the other two.

If anyone wants the parts to do this, PM me and I'll send them out to the first two people who respond.

Used the same info to do my 66 Barracuda. Bench tested it, got exactly the right voltage. Cost me about $8.00. I had fun doing it.
Saved money, had fun and made an improvement, what not to like?

Since I have my cluster on a bench and I'm quite comfortable with a soldering iron and stuff. I was thinking of doing this as well.

Or you can buy an electronic Vreg on ebay cheap. I paid ~$25. It has a voltage adjustment screw and that way no exposed conductors. Search "voltage limiter". For those w/ early cars (1966-?) or tachometer (1973-), you must disable the Vreg inside your fuel gage. Easy to find photos to do that.
