has anyone done any plumbing mods to their intakes for rear coolant crossover/flow balance? I'm considering doing something on an M1 single plane on my 340. Nothing fancy, maybe tap the intake and put an AN-12 across the rear of the intake. Opinions please?????????

There was a thread a few months ago that has some real good pics, do a search. The one in the thread went up to a piece under the t-stat housing to take the water straight to the rad, not across the back of the block.

ya ive seen that they sell a kit for it, but for a chevy

Connecting the two rear ports will not do much by itself. You need to get it back to the water outlet/manifold. Then you complete the circuit.

The most effective spot to tap the intake for coolent is inbetween the two runners to allow coolent to be taken out of the head on the middle cylinders/exhaust ports since the exhaust of these two cylinders are next to each other.

The rear two ports are easier and less effective, but do help. You -12an fitting is a good size. Run them under the intakes runners to the thermo stat housing. There are adapters to hook up the hose's.

Like said, where is that thread? There were alot of good shots in that thread.

Ha HA! Found it!!!!!
