A few questions since I have to replace the interstate shaft bushing in my 340 block:
1. Is there a special instalation method for the bushing or just hammer it in? I bought a shaft and bushing off of Mancini and it seems like the clearance is right uninstalled. I have read about some people burnishing the bushing after instalation. Is that common?
2. The Mancini shaft gear is pressed on with no pin. The shaft that I pulled out of the 340 is a pinned shaft. Is it worth trying to drill the gear to install a pin? (I wish I could reuse the old 340 shaft l but it has worn out at the bushing). I have read the pin just causes a stress riser in the shaft and isn't actually an upgrade over a pressed shaft so long as it has the radius going into the hex for the pump drive.
