Intermediate Shaft and Bushing

-
I’m too old to be swinging a big hammer. Plus, I usually lay them down in some idiotic place and then I can’t find it.

That’s why I have a drawer full of them. I did break a Mac dead blow about a year ago. I need to replace that thing.
I am PISSED. Years ago I bought a nice ball pein dead blow, I forget, Proto? Stanley bought them out and will not warrantee them. The ff'in plastic fell off you ought'a see it. Looks like a skinned cat. ALL of it was plastic except the "guts" of the head and the small 3/8 or so steel stem through the handle, the rest was all plastic. I did not break it, it has deteriorated.

Used to look like this except black

I've had some Snap Ons do that before. They will not warranty it.

Have you tried the new shaft in place? It may be quite tight in the existing bushing...& the bushing not need replacing. I suspect the old shaft is an MP shaft because it is pinned. I'll bet where the hex meets the shaft, it is tapered. Sure sign of the aftermarket shaft. Problem with them was they were made of 4X40 steel, which you can cut with a hacksaw. I presume this material was used because it would flex a bit...& not snap off like the tool steel factory shaft. The other problem with it was it would wear with a bronze bush. I used an alum bush....no wear. If just have a stock replacement part, it will be ok with the bronze bush & the bush itself may not be worn.
