Wondering about internal or external balanced motors. I am getting a new 440 which is a 1974 block but has a steel crank which I am guessing is internally balanced? I currently have a 76 with a cast iron crank that is externally balanced and has a huge dampner on it. What I am wondering about it the weights on the torque converter, if the new motor is internally balanced I assume I don't need those weights, if that the case, can they be taken off or will I require a new converter? Any help is appreciated.
