"It's got a chip"

First, these radios haven't been worth 600 bucks for ? 30? years. One a good day, if they are in nice shape, don't smell like an ashtray, and work correctly, they're worth 200-250 bucks to some people, certainly not me

Second, these are not and never have been legal for use on CB in the U.S. They are only for use on the amateur bands. This is federal law and is still enforced

Last, this radio has NO chips of any kind. Any solid state circuits in that radio are strictly old school "70's" analog transistor technology. There is no processor, no digital anything.

I just cannot figure out why people seem to think that the rest of us really are that stupid

Tell ya. If I ever decide to 'eff around on CB and break the law, I'm not gonna screw with a measly 100 watts. Couple'a 8877's at least

I had my round with high wattage. I knew a lot of people running over 1KW back in the 80s. All of them had some sort of heart ailment. Big tube wattage aint for me. LOL I just want a little kick to put in the closet in case TSHTF.

Well I'll tell ya Rob, this business of rf damage to humans is WAY overrated.

If people got heart ailments from using a 1kw HF transmitter, it was because they were sitting around on their lazy ***, drinkin' beer, eatin' fat and smokin' while blabbin' on the radio -- it certainly was not from electromagnetic radiation

The fact is there just is NOT much documentation to support that stuff except in very extreme cases, which includes fairly narrow frequency bands, and close exposure. When I was in the Navy, we had to be tested (just once!! LOL) for rf exposure from microwave (RADAR) radiation. They dialated and looked at our eyes, and that was about it.

You're probably right I am sure. But I aint lookin to shut down the airways. LOL I got an old Realistic Navaho and an Antron99. Wouldn't hurt to have a *little* sumffin in bertween since we're pretty much 20 miles from anywhere.
