I'm in the middle of moving and we put some crunch time in the last few days to get the long block together, mated it to the 4spd OD and got it dropped in last night. Today is the big move day and I'll get it into my new garage with a plan of finishing it this winter and back on the road next spring.

Final build specs: 1970 Barracuda, 4spd OD, 8.75 w/3.55 gears and a sure grip. Original 225 bored .040 over, shaved .030 off the block and .060 off the head, mild port work and gasket matched (stock valve size), 340 springs, JP Performance DBL roller (I ended up having to shave 0.090 off the back side of the crank sprocket to get proper alignment with the cam gear), Offenhauser 4bbl, Eddy AVS2 500, Clifford shorty headers, HEI distributor setup from Ray. RAM HDX clutch and flywheel setup. That's the main stuff, I'm sure there'll be some other fun this winter to figure out.

Oh yeah ... Dutra RV10 RDP. Compression is about 9.25. Factory original rods except for one which the Machine shop indicated had a slight bend from the factory, but somehow it still made it to 137,000 MI just fine. ARP studs and bolts ALL the way around. Rebuilt my original oil pump. Spent some time doing casting cleanup, especially behind the water pump. The water pump is a Flowkooler unit. Matt's oil pump gasket, felpro gaskets, Remflex exhaust gasket. Exhaust is going to be a single outlet. I also used the one piece rear main seal

Big thanks to Charlie too, he helped me work through a few items and hooked me up with a pulley wheel I'll need when I install the Vintage Air system.

My dad bought this car in 1973, specifically for the Slant six because he had a long commute and thought it would save him gas. He parked it in 1987, it took me 20 years to convince him that I wanted to save it and keep it in the family, brought it home in 2013 and I'm just now closing in on the finish line. It'll be passed down to my son as well. I spend just about as much time on this site as I do the e-bodies forums because this is the best one for slant 6 info other than the original slantsix.org, but not many users there anymore.

Just curious as to what type of horsepower you think you will make out of that combo.
Total guestimate of 200-210.

last item I forgot to add - I had it all balanced, overkill for sure but I'm glad I did because the front of the crank needed a lot more removed than the rear

I also am happy you left it as a /6. You watch; your car will get as much if not more attention than the V8 4-speed cars at a car show. I think you will be very happy with the 3.55 gears. I am looking forward to seeing it complete.

Great Job, and that blue on blue looks great!
Blue interior too, it's a bit overwhelming. I'll be adding these lower rocker stripes to help break up the color a bit and my dad had them on. I had them reproduced in Avery vinyl (I have 3 more sets available if anyone is interested).

Almost all the solid-contributing regulars are still there and contributing at slantsix.org .
Indeed, it's where 95%+ of my research was done... I've spent many many hours pouring over threads and documentation over the last 10+ years to hopefully get this right the first time
