Those are AMC 360 engines, not Chrysler LA 360 engines. They could come with a 727 or a GM TH400, as far as the trans bolt pattern is concerned.... I have no idea. Hope this helps...

The rear end is probably a AMC 20 or a Dana 44.

It sure did......... thanks.........I'll stay home....

I worked in a AMC/Jeep dealer in the mid 70's to 89. I would assume these pickups are 70's vintage. If memory serves Me the J10's came with AMC 360's not Chrysler 360's they also came with torqueflites. The bellhousing's are different. J10's did have Dana 44's. I believe the J20's did come with THM400 trans. I did own 2 of them many moons ago and wish I still had them. Hope this helps You.

You might wanna go scope them out. Those trucks were badass and bulletproof. That 360 AMC engine was a stump pullin ****. It was actually made by International.

I have parts for them trucks.....Just sayin and yea they came with th 400 or 727 but as was said....won't fit mopar smallblock

The AMC 360 was a member of the 2nd generation AMC V8 family; 290,304,343,360 and 401.
It is a very good design and can make great power. Pull a valve cover and compare the valve train to a magnum Mopar.
It wasn't made by International, however IHC did buy 258 6 cylinders from AMC for use in the Scout II.

Anyone who knows anytihng about an AMC V8 engine knows they can be made into some seriously bad *** engines. Indy also has aluminum heads for them; http://www.indyheads.com/newla.html

Be fore warned, if an AMC comes messin with ya, and they know something, be prepared to get your clock cleaned. It could happen.

Yep, a friend of mine has a 67 or so Rambler American with a 401/4 speed in it. Looks like a granny-mobile but sure don't drive like one!

Engines:
6 cyl: 230 OHC 1963-1966 AMC 232/3581966-1987
V8: Rambler 327 1965-1967 Buick 350 1868-1971 AMC 304/360/410 1971-1987

Automatic Transmissions:
Borg Warner 1963-1967 TH400 1968-1978 A727 1979-1987

Transfer case: Dana 20 1963-1978 BW Quadra Track 1973-1978 NP 207 variants 1979-1987

Front axle: Front axle on an early truck may have been a Dana 30, but almost all were Dana 44. Post 74 will have 6-lugs, be open knuckle, and have disk brakes.

Rear axle would be a Dana 44/53/60 depending on GVW. Not sure the AMC 20 was ever used in trucks, but replaced the Dana 44 in later Wagoneers.

These were great trucks of the "metal age". As in, aside from the steering wheel, distributor cap, and a couple lenses and knobs, they were all metal. Plenty of info here: http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/

Below is my 71 Buick 350 (now Stage 1) TH400/D20/D44/D60 main parts chaser.

yupp AMC 360, (almost the same as ford 360, yes ford had 360) doesn't even look the same as mopar 360. 70's had turbo 400's 80's had 727's. Differentials are mostly danna 44's with the transfercase being passengers drop, except wagoneer's they had heavier rear ends/T-case and they were drivers side drop

Maybe that's where I got the IH thing....but the 360 is not a GENII. It is a GENII because it's a tall deck engine.

I love the J-series trucks...If the bodies are solid I'd gladly take one for $500...Preferably with a shortbed.
