I was looking through all the parts I have in my garage and most are not junk, but they are used. So I really don't have the cash to build a stroker engine for the race car I picked up, so I am thinking I will use what I have . How much HP do you think?

1969 340block
.040 over domed Arias pistons should have around 14 to 1
Cam .571/.571 304/304 duration flat tappet
Edelbrock 63cc heads
holley strip dominator intake
850 cfm holley
Moroso oil pan
Harland sharp rockers

Do you think it would make over 500HP?

Those don't sound like "junk" parts to me LOL Throw em in a box, I'll be moren' happy to "junk" em!!

With stock Eddy's......No!
That's approaching 1.5 hp per cube. I'd guess 430to450 range.

With a real good porting job, spot on machine work and spinning the wee out of it you might get close to 500, imo.

might be a bit much compression with thos heads/pistons combination

thats what i was thinking

I agree measurements there would be critical. Advertised 14.to 1 pistons many times are not quite that in the real world and with the proper gasket selection might work ok.

By the way, nice grab on the Duster. Like the Quay frt tag. When i was in Md. in the 70s/early80s there were alot of Stock/SS cars around with his fingerprints on'um.:D

would like to hear it run with that much compression, probably sound pretty aggressive...

I Guess I would have to send the heads to Shadydell for little work.
My last ride had a steel headed stock stroke 360 with Scat crank and Scat H beam rods diamond pistons .
360 .030 over
13.5 to 1 compression with 70 cc steel heads 2.05 valves intake
1.6 and 1.7 Jessel rockers
650 lift roller
Strip dominator intake
850 holley
Made 586 hp 570 ft torque on the Dyno.
went 10.38 @ 129 MPH shifting at 5500rpms and foot breaking it.
I think it might have went 990 shifting at 7500 and comonmg off transbrake

Nice 360 dwire, maybe i underestimated some. With the 3.31 stroke you would have to keep the torque peak a little higher, but that is impressive:thumblef:.

I figured w2's on the 360 build. To get that from x or j heads is getting after it with the die grinder. My guess, would be a T/A style head.

The Heads I used on the Valiant had no part numbers on them and they where not W2 or anything like that. I have a friend that use to work for IROC and back in the 80's when they ran Daytona's they used the heads I had on the Valiant and they where steel, with 2.05 valves , I forget the flow numbers but they where up there.
The heads where ported by Brandywine Cylinder heads for IROC
