Yesterday mid day I called the support line for Classic Auto Air and had to leave a message.
This morning at 7:30 they returned my call and will be shipping a new low side hose immediately with tracking.
Good job Classic Auto Air.
-————————————-
I was out running some errands in the Dart the other day and as it got warmer out I switched on the AC.
After it was on for a minute or two I noticed it wasn’t cooling like it used to.
This will be the third time I have to draw down and refill the system. (Each time having to pay for new coolant)

The first time I had to pull the under dash unit on the initial install to replace a stuck expansion valve.
(The company sent a new valve, but disassembling about everything in my dash is required so my daily driver car was down for 5 days)

The second was a compressor that didn’t want to pump. (They sent a new compressor after I had to pay to return the existing one.)

Now a hose crimp leak.
The unit has a three year warranty, so I expect the company to make this right.
If they don’t I have a little video on my YouTube channel that is currently set to private.
If I have a problem with them taking care of this I will have to pay to fix or replace it at my own expense.
If that happens the video won’t be private any longer.

I’m generally a fairly patient and forgiving person and understand that sometimes crap happens, but this is getting old.

We had issues like that at the dealer. We would carefully cut the ferrule off and install a worm style hose clamp made specifically for A/C. It didn't look as slick as the crimped ferrules but is fixed the leak. A daily driver I wouldn't care about.

I would go over it with a good leak detector as well. Just because there's evidence of THAT leak, may not mean it's the only one. Sorry you're having such an ordeal. But we all know where this stuff comes from.

That may be an option thank you.
It would probably bug me forever though.

I would be of the same mindset by now, pissed off! I understand that sometimes things happen and I will always give the benefit of the doubt the first time. The idea of having to pay more out pocket for shipping, etc would have my blood boiling pretty quickly. I hope that you get a satisfactory resolution on this issue sooner than later.

Remember....

The parts you don't add, don't cause you no trouble!

My car.

Points
Manual brakes
Manual steering
No AC

No Problems!

Oh it will get solved pretty quickly.
Tomorrow I will be getting an estimate on fixing or replacing this hose from a local hydraulic hose shop, then I’ll be calling the support line for the unit and see what they are willing to do.
Either way it’s going to get done fairly quickly.

I hear ya, but it’s very likely my Wife will end up with this car before awfully long.
If it doesn’t have AC she won’t drive it, and it will just sit or get sold. (Not too sure why it will matter at that point just something I need to get over I guess)

Find a friend that does commercial AC and pressure test it with nitrogen. 150-200 psi and let it stand overnight.

We have a commercial licensed AC tech in the family that I will also get the opinion from.
He owns a local heating and AC business and is always willing to help.

dye, sniffer thats all i do for real is about $20 in freon ....(and look for any oil stains on the components )
if the evap is leaking i can smell it in the car 90% of the time

Ditto on the nitrogen testing, a friend and I chased a leak in a shuttle van with front and rear air for a month. We were told to have it pressure tested with nitrogen and we finally found the small leak in a crimped fitting. The van has been running for the last two weeks and both units blow cold enough to hang meat.

So what dose the nitrogen show
How can you tell if an evaporator is leaking

If you notice a pressure drop when the system is pressurized with the nitrogen. you don't have to evacuate the coolant in the system. When using the dye in conjuction with the nitrogen. it was easier your us to find the leak in the system. It turned out that one of the barrier hoses was split internally.

Agreed.....the only time i resort to Nitrogen is when i can take the entire component and throw it in a trough of water to watch for microbubbles.
I have confirmed many bad evaporators that way tho....

For me don't see spending on the equipment
Yet
But I've been waiting on the 1234yf stuff
That stuff is expensive...so might have to buy into it soon

Amen. My first thought was AC?? I live in NH, no need for that heavy stuff. Hell, it's rained 10 weekends in a row. It's raining right now...I would live to "need" AC.

That’s totally understandable for your area.
Been hitting into the 90’s here already.
