OK, I always thought that all small block K frames were the same (obviously other than the two flavors - biscuit and spool), but I keep reading in posts about 340 K frames, and K frames with a washer welded to them.

What does the washer denote, or is it welded somewhere as a reinforcement?

Was there a special K frame for 340's?

Someone educate me!

The washer is a later 340 deal (not in 68 and maybe not in 69) and does nothing but identify the piece...

Thanks Jim. So does that mean there was a different part number K frame for later 340 cars? Is there any physical difference?

4 inches?

I believe that the washer denotes the HP application of the 340 motor, and that extra time was taken to "reinforce" the K for the extra duty! All in all, it just means that they took a little extra time welding everything, probably about 15 seconds in reality!!

Well, that is interesting, thanks for the link. I learned two things today - 1 than some 340 K members have a washer and 2 - that I should use the search function here at fabo, LOL

Cheers
