kmj perfomance rocker arm info

Ive said this before. My neighbor guy built his Small block Chevy with KMJ parts... they are right down the road from us here. No problems but he doesnt have alot of miles on it. Take it for what its worth. If you do buy them do a write up here for others interested.
 
Those are ProComp brand rockers and they are ok if you are using a MILD setup. I would not use them past 6000rpm or 300# spring pressure. These are what I call entry level roller rockers, much better than stock stamped, but no good for any real HP engine.

How do you feel about Hughes roller rockers, mid to high applications maybe. This thread might benefit by the comparison.
 
Hughes are nice if you get a good set(kind of hit and miss these days). PRW are also a very nice rocker if you get the NEW updated ones, not the old ones that are selling for cheap on ebay and such.
 
MRL, i didnt know there were "bad" sets of hughes rockers....everyone ive heard using them (on these forums, BBD, moparts, and others) had no problems...
i have a set i bought about 6 years ago for my 408 stroker that worked fine, and have a set on my 318 that i got about 1 year ago...

but then again, im an average "dude" and dont build hundreds of motors, just a lowly 318...lol, but since you prolly come across thousands of parts, could you care to explain?

not trying to argue in any way, im just simply interested, curious. :):):)

Before you order them rockers. Check and make sure they have bearings inside. If you look at that photo at the bottom there doesnt look like there is any bearings. Could be just they way the photo is but I would double check that.

Looks like they're bronze bushed.
 
aluminum rockers do not come bushed....they might have roller bearing in them....

Crane aluminum rockers do not come with bearing or bushing...the aluminum rides on the shaft....
 
Is that a bronze bushing or a bad picture of roller bearing???


New set of big block Mopar 1.5 ratio aluminum roller rockers. Works for all big blocks (except Hemi) with the standard pedestal stands and spacing. Includes shafts, billet aluminum hold downs, spacers, shims, and hold down bolts.

Rockers are lightweight 6061 aluminum with roller tips for low friction. Heat treated steel adjusters (will require appropriate cup end pushrods). Can be used with hydraulic or solid lifters. Very nice setup!


those come with roller tips only.....but never seen a bushing in a aluminum roller rocker cause the soft aluminum rides on the shaft.....aka Crane...

And Hughes. and yea it's definetely a bushing. If it was a needle bearing the part you can see flush with the rocker face would be wider like these that 440 source is selling.

there is no friction...just stating what i have seen...never seen an aluminum rocker with a bushing in it...LOL

the crane or mp aluminum have no bushing....harland sharp have needle bearing riding on shaft...my pro comp have needle bearing on shaft...

but i know i have not seen everything...
 
The only thing I know for sure these days is a person has got to do his/her homework especially on rocker assemblies before plunking your cash on the table.

I know, I told him to start a thread on these stainless rockers & see if anyone is having good luck with them, I said they would hold up better for street use.
