The balancer is off a 95 5.2L out of a RAM, the pulley is off a industrial LA318 from a 70s dump truck, no matter how I turn the pulley I can only get 5 out of the 6 bolt holes to line up. Is this common? I am thinking just slot the hole to make it large enough for the bolt to work.

Yup. At some point in time the holes were changed from symmetrical to "one off" to locate the pulley. Just leave it out or elongate, your choice

Yes this is normal because the older pulley and balanced have that 1 offset hole. Do what needs to be done on the pulley and mount that baby up!

Oh, a new modern pulley will have the hole slotted.
Upper left hole elongated in the picture below.

Yep, normal for what you are doing.
I ran across that exact issue and just egged that hole to line up.
Never had any side affects from it, and couldn't imagine there would be.

Really the only other choice is to leave out the bolt straight across from it for balance and I didn't want to do that.

Awesome thank you everyone! The pulley that I am using only had 4 of the 6 bolts in it when I removed from the donor so I figured slotting the hole is better than only four out of six.
