Morning men ,busy day a head yup you guessed it,hockey tournament so I’m charging up then off to the rink , first though I’m gonna have tee with my favourite red head :)

Got in touch with SLO today and said he's been working 7 days a week and haven't been working on his car. Poor guy is tired of North Dakota winters and is having a hard time cooping with the cold.

The cold sure does get old. Been pretty moderate around here. I can get some stuff done outdoors once in a while.

Not sure if I told you guys but in the barn I have plastic stapled to the refters to help hold heat. The walls are all done with R13 pink and 1/2 OSB so I am starting to insulate the rafters. I am going to use 2 inch foam board over the plastic. The board has an R10 value but is expensive so it may take a year or 2 to get done. It is 37 dollars a sheet here and will take 50 sheets.

YIKES $37 a sheet!. Why not fiberglass? be nice to have more than r-10 in the lid.
40x40?

40 X 50 I figured foam board because of weight. R10 plus the vapor barrier of plastic I figured might be enough. The other reason is when the 20 foot wide door is open wind plus glass on top of it would rip the staples through the plastic and bring it down.

Wow $ 1,850.00 plus tax !

OK I get it. There will not be a lid so to speak. I have some of that blue stuff in a compressor shack and something is mining it. I haven't figured out what it is yet but haven't trierd too hard yet. I got some for free. I'm using it mostly for sound control.

No I did not. The walls are done already and being a shingled roof it need air moving under the wood or the shingles would die quick. It took 8 years to get the walls done. lol
I see what your saying that makes sense.
Not gonna take much heat to keep it warm in there.

Grand kids are making cookies so that should make them fly off the walls. lol
Been having a great time but I guarantee you I'll need a rest when they leave.

I heard just the opposite. I'm not trying to talk you into it but my cousin used to do it. He says it's better than a vented attic but he's trying to sell too, so more research would be needed. I was thinking of using it in my attached garage.

I know in a home if you insulate the back side of the roof you need to install the foam board they sell that keeps an air gap to the roof boards to allow air to flow between the insulation and the roof board.
