The A is a 31 coupe redone from the frame up. Interior done in wide cord camel like factory, engine rebuilt with poured bearings runs like a top, just have to scrape up 10 grand to get it painted.
Fred do you remember Eldon road race cars. The motor was 12 v it fits perfectly into armature hole in original electric wiper motor and has enough power to run wiper even the gear meshes with the original model A gear. Those pot metal motor chassis just fall apart after 90 years

If you have time could you post some pictures of it and the interior. Been thinking about it and would love to see it.

I started to hit the like button, but the prices we pay to paint a car has really went up, labor is one thing but I have seen some crazy prices on paint these days.
I remember going to the paint store for supplies and spend 400 on everything we needed, but we keep supplies in shop other then pain, and paint a full size 80 model truck in the 90es on that
Painted my Scamp about 4 years ago is when I bought the paint supplies and just the gallon of base paint was 1,200. and clear was 400 a gallon. Now it is almost doubled.

LOL that's great but maybe it's still under warranty.
Is yours still working? I have 2, 1 new and not sure on the other.

Back in the 80es and 90es 400 would buy color, and seems like a clear coat was 150, for a truck.. but I still painted enamel alot back then, love the two stage, never had a problem with nason paints

I like Nason paint and the clear but I figured on my Scamp I would use better paint but we all try to keep our old cars out of the sun and weather so Nason works just fine.

I have the hand crank on my truck and I like it so not gonna change over to electric.
Never drive it in the rain anyway.

Mine has both but you need to get the starter drive from sniders original starter drive will only handle 12 v for so long then the bendex breaks

My father in law is the one I got the wiper motors from and haven't really looked at them.
His was a 30 coupe and not sure if they are 12V or 6V.

Yes on keeping it under a roof, out of bad weather, I have Nason paint job on a Midnight Watchmen blue Nova :D yep , I showed him the color and he liked it, so it went on and looks great after 26 year's. Its been driving a lot , and driven to his work every now and then, I have more faith in that paint then others I don't know about

Good paint Iv'e seen it fade out from to much sun but for the price it's good.
I like Dupont paint about the best or Sikkens but I really haven't done much painting in years.

Dupont paint is a good paint, never got use to using it, painted alot of used cars for dealers, but when I painted my own truck or car most of the time it was enamel, I miss block sanding and buffing (can't believe I said that) but it was the good times back in the day
Back then you cold buy an older car, wet sand with the correct paper then buff, looked new as you know I bet , little brother bought an American Motors Hornet hatch back, forest green, we sanded and buffed it :wtf::wtf: looked new :thankyou:

Yea buddy Did that a lot just buffing out the old paint.
I also liked to block and prime and buff but can't handle all the dust anymore.
My Scamp was the last I'll do and the first restoration for me and not someone else.

Can u buy pints of paint how far does a quart go
Yes you can buy pints and a Quart depending on the color and sealer you put down you could paint your car complete in a solid color on the outside with less than 2 quarts. Lots you got to figure though, are you going base clear or single stage. Single stage will take more paint.
Been a long time for me so just figure. My car took less than a gallon of Base paint and that was inside and out And I think I ended up with a pint left over.
BP is much better at figuring it out since he's still painting and a good painter as well.

If I want it original I will need two colours of blue, upper and lower body black for fenders, straw for modeling between upper and lower body same colour for wheels.

If it was me I would pull the fenders, doors, trunk and hood off and paint them separate instead of trying to paint it all at once. Your doing a solid color so paint match is not a problem. I would paint as little as possible at a time in a shop with minimal air flow instead of a paint booth. That's if you decide to do it yourself, and you can concentrate on a smaller area and not have to worry about trying to keep up with dry time and dry spots.
