All this talk about sand reminded me of some time me and a bunch of good guys spent in the desert. We had been there long enough that when we would get our chow often times we would reach down and add a pinch of sand to the plate. In some small way it gave us victory over the desert. Rationale being " this time the desert didn't ruin our meal" We stole the victory and thwarted the desert. Twisted logic for a twisted time. Have a great day out there guys. I am going to make another run at the Demon today.
I couldn't imagine all the crap you guys had to put up with in the sand box.
Have fun on the Demon SLO.

Hey BP was wondering how to get my car up high enough to work on the under side without getting a expensive rotisserie that I will only use once.
With the front suspension out I can lift the front end up by myself so not heavy.

By yourself? Not sure I understand. An engine hoist could work. I've seen guys "crib" them I have seen guys use dumpsters or 55 gallon barrels. I don't like the barrel idea. My buddy has a little lift that gets it oh... I don't know 2.5 or 3 feet off of the ground and is lifted with a floor jack some how. He is in Portland so I'm not real sure how that works but he has plenty of money for stuff like that.

Me, I just have plain old jack stands. Heavy duty tall jack stands. That's what I used when I put in my relocate and subframe connectors in or when I do other mechanical work. I have four pieces of just the right sized angle aluminium I use between the rocker pinch weld and the jack stands. I'm sure that gets em a good 2 feet off of the ground.

You gave me an idea BP I got a cherry picker. gonna go try something.

Question guys, can I weld on galvanized steel if I have a good draft taking the fumes away?
Yes, just try and grind as much of the galvvy away from the weld point as you possibly can. Position the weld area as close to a door as possible and put fan on high. Weld a little and clear smoke repeat as necessary. Wear a mask if at all possible. If not even a bandana is better than nothing. If you get poisoned it is about as sick as you can be and want to live.
